Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

I built a reactive load from this thread https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/aikens-reactive-dummy-load.1072793/ and it sounds amazing!...a must have for a NMV at home.... I highly suggest adding this to your stash....reamping with a line out for low volume use is fantastic all the f...

Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

Transformers finally came in after delay in Chicago plant for corona virus shutdown. Got frankenstein up off the desk last night! After checking voltages everywhere, i got up the nerve to throw the switch. "It's Alive!" .....lol The feel and sound of this amp is just fantastic. And i don't even have...

Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

yikes!....glad you got it figured out... I went round and round whether it was worth the extra work... I also went round and round about fusing the secondary of the PT....You can see i added the fuse holders around the bridge rectifier on the side of the chassis. I am not going to fuse the heater wi...

Waiting on transformers now... so when Chicago decides to go back to work, I will be able to finish....pretty much done with wiring... Built a quick amp stand to set it on for ease of maintenance and modding.... Head shell arrived from Sour Mash guitars and cabs....did a great job....I had them shor...

Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

I got a little bit more done this weekend....drilled the board so i could make all the terminations on top of the board. Did not want to have any issues underneath the board once installed. awaiting parts and trying to decide how to protect the secondary of the PT transformer from a shorted diode in...

Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

Thanks for the reply Phil... I think Soldano does the straight wiring thing. I have read that as long as the wires run parallel they dont have to be twisted. The twisting keeps them parallel. Either will cause the fields to cancel each other. I just wonder if everyone does it that way because "Marsh...

Re: My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

I notice on the heater wiring others have done, most all do the 1 wire on one side of socket and the other going around to other side of socket. A large loop around the socket. Is there any reason people don't go right down the center of the socket with both wires? This would seem to lessen the cros...

Re: My JTM50 build...so it begins....

I guess i am gonna wire this similar to a 1987 model. Split cathode, .0022 bypass on the bright channel. Not sure if i am going 330uf or 230uf on normal channel cathode.

There are so many variations of the vintage Marshalls. Part of the charm.

My JTM50/JMP50/1987 build...so it begins....

Hi everyone... Parts are arriving. Chassis is from Triode USA. Small parts are from Valvestorm. 20" wide headshell is being made at Sour Mash cabinets in Marianna Fl just down the road. Transformers have been ordered from Triode, Classictones. Very excited for my first amp build...Completed my first...
