Hello all,
I’m wanting to build a Two Rock style tube preamp pedal. What is the best way to ensure a low output impedance? What’s the easiest way? Open to all suggestions.

Re: Wonderland without reverb?
I have the unused second triode connected with a plate a coupling cap and a resistor to ground along with the cathode cap and resistor. The signal pin is not connected. I call it dummy because it is there just for the loading effect. And how you bias the triode impacts on the B+, so the values of t...

Re: John Mayer Preamp Build
For higher voltages you’ll likely be on something like the Princeton Reverb PT or similar (for which you might as well build a low power 6v6 output stage) Best of luck, and please keep us updated. Curious. Thanks for your reply, Tim! I’ve considered doing a 22 watt version with a dual 6V6 power sec...

Re: John Mayer Preamp Build
Here are some more specifics if anyone can help me. Choosing power transformer - I will use a diode bridge rectifier - how much VAC do I need? - how much HT amperage do I need? Bridge rectifier - how do I calculate B+ leaving the rectifier? Filter caps, dropping resistors, and choke - how much filte...

John Mayer Preamp Build
Hey guys! After much deliberation and examining my needs from an amp, I’ve decided to build a full John Mayer Signature preamp. My initial questions are what power transformer I should use and how to determine the power filtering needed. I know many have said the reverb circuit on the JM Sig is deli...

Re: Wonderland without reverb?
Is there a way to omit the reverb circuit on the Wonderland amp? In short, yes, but you are in for a different amp, as you will need to create a way to bleed the equivalent signal that is lost to the reverb path and also to account for the supply loading effect in just one triode versus two (and th...

Re: JM/Wonderland/Fairfield County Master Volume
What would I have to change in the circuitry to only use 2 of the 6L6 tubes and build it as a 50 watt amp?

JM/Wonderland/Fairfield County Master Volume
Hey guys! For those of you who own one of these amps, could you attest to how well the master volume works? Does the amp sound dull at say, 9 o clock on the master volume? How loud is that? I’m wanting to do a JM style build and have had a few who have advised against my original plan to build a ful...

Re: John Mayer Sig Preamp Plate Voltage
Hey Dan! Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I agree the full amp would definitely be better, but my playing situation is silent stages. I could to the whole reactive load thing and what not, but I figured I’d try this first with power amp and cab sim. If it sounds like dookie, I’m sure I’ll build the full...

John Mayer Sig Preamp Plate Voltage
Hey guys! I’m doing a ton of reading and research as I look to get into amp building. I’m starting off small and building a JM preamp pedal. How do I find out on the schematic what the plate voltage should be on each preamp tube? I’m looking at building a full tube preamp (reverb included!) and know...

John Mayer Sig Reverb Tank Size
Hey guys! This may be a really stupid question, but does it matter what size reverb tank is used in the JM Sig? I’d like to use a smaller tank for my build. I know it won’t be as luscious as the big tank. This is more of a can I question instead of should I. Would it require any modifications to the...

Two Rock/Dumble Style Chassis and Head Cabinet
Hey folks! Where in the US can I get a TR/Dumble style chassis and matching head cabinet? Preferably a chassis in the John Mayer format or close. Any help is greatly appreciated!
