Re: Any pickup winders on here - I'm in too!

I have wound a few pickups. I built my winder from an ovule drill. I made a speed controller and digital counter from kits. It works well. I have an ould fender lead I'm thinking about making a new pick guard and winding a couple hot single coils for it. If I find some time. Your stuff looks nice. I...

Re: Source for Large Eyelets

One time I bought some from walmart. They where black so I soaked them in finger nail polish remover for a bit washed them off and they worked great. Still play that amp all of the time. It was a repurpose build. I used everything pulled from old amps except the filter caps and the chassis was new. ...

12ac7?

came across a 12ac7 tube in my box of old tubes to inspect. Anyone know exactly what it is. I think it might be an ec83 equivalent but Im not having luck verifying that.

Re: Monza master volume mod

Ok I had type 3 and type 1 mixed up. I used type 3 not one. As I said it works well but if I choke the volume down lowthe tone control has all most no effect.

Re: Monza master volume mod

At lower volumes the tone control has little effect on the sound. But as you turn up the mv the tone circuit has greater effect. But the cross line does bring the volume down to a family watching tv in the other side of the house level. I will study type 3 as we'll. thanks

Re: Monza master volume mod

Good stuff. Type 2 looks like a good way to go. Type one I've used it works okay but it defiantly limits the tone control.

Re: Monza master volume mod

We'll not with the mv mod. I know exactly how the non mv amp works. The tone knob is like a vox top cut with an .01 cap. So I'm thinking the normal ppimv would change the effect of the tone circuit. I can answer question about the amp as far as the circuit goes except I'm not certain about he mv mod.

Re: Two output Trannies in parallel?

My soldano atomic had 16 ohm out put only. I ran it in an 8 ohm speaker allot. I personally have no problem with speakers mismatch. It probably effects tone and volume but the amps have knobs on the front.

Monza master volume mod

Has any one seen what the mod is? I thought it would just be a vox like mv but I'm starting to think that might not be it. Wouldn't that cancel his tone circuit?

Re: Dovetailed walnut cabinet

That's amazing. Do you use capture nuts or wing nuts? I like the look better when you hang the amp but a bottom amp doesn't trap heat next to the tubes. I to like the option of using a combo.

turret boards

Ken Watts has a couple of boards for sale on his web sight. I was wondering if some one could point me in the right direction to find layouts for those boards? Looking for my next project.

Re: Cutting G10/FR4

Tile saw? Genius! I have one of those. I have always used a chop saw. It works well. Just a quick chop and it is cut to size. I have never needed to rip in to strips though. The tile saw would rock for that.
I learn new things here all the time.
