I played your Badger 35 at the show and was floored. Gotta save up my pennies.

Suhr Badger 35 Circuit???
Hi Guys: Not a builder, just a lurker here. I went to the NY amp show today and played a lot of amps, but the one that floored me was the Badger 35. Is this a "known" circuit that has been tweaked or something unique?? What i really liked is that is retained excellent note separation even as the gai...

Newbie seeks advice on first build.
After lurking for almost a year, I want to build an amp. I some basic knowledge and soldering skills. I currently can build a pedal, swap board components and bias an amp.
With those BASIC skills, which do you all recommend for my first project??
Thanks in advance.
Ron

NAD, but we have a problem!! HELP!!
Got a Mesa F-50 from a TGP'er today. Arrived in good shape! Put the tubes in and fired her up and strummed a few chords. YIKES!!!!! Sounded painfully thin to me. I took out my bias probe and got 31Ma on V5 and 0 Ma on V6. switched tubes, changes tubes and got the same result. V5 get as hot as expect...

Re: Which Trainwreck for Classic Rock
Thanks for the great feedback. I've always used pedals and really am able to shape my tone with them. It looks like a Rocket is the choice. OK, who do you recommend I commission a build with??

Which Trainwreck for Classic Rock
I have ALWAYS been a Fender guy but lately, I have been enjoying my cleans a bit more chimey. I play in a Classic Rock band and am wondering which design would fit the bill. I have no need for any hi gain. The heaviest we get is AC/DC and Judas Priest. Any thoughts/ suggestions would be appreciated....

Re: First Amp Build: Which One and where to source
Thanks Guys. My experience is limited to biasing my own amps and doing Steve Ahola mods on a peavey Classic 30. I can solder and know how to discharge caps. I'm not a designer nor do I have a ton of electronics theory knowledge. I want to build a KIT with support. I think I can do that.

First Amp Build: Which One and where to source
I've decided that over the upcoming months, I would like to build an amp. What is recommended for a first time builder in terms of circuit and parts sourcing??
Thanks,

Best method for dropping B= voltage to use 6V6's
I just grabbed a Plexi based amp with the plates running at 485v. I would like to run it with 6V6's to hit it's sweet spot earlier. How can this be accomplished. I have, in the past, done component value swaps in amps but I AM NOT a builder or expert. Please try to speak in layman's terms if possibl...

Good Point. A 22 Watt amp would be perfect for my needs. I do not like a compressed tone ala' an 18 Watt/ EL-84 based amp. I prefer the more open Plexi sound.

Re: 25 Watt Plexi with EL-34's???
I really think that the 6V6 is a useful tube for modern gigging.....just my $.02. Yup, 6V6 PP amps definitely make great gigging amps for those who know how to use them in a properly mic'd situation. The JJ6V6S is particularly rugged and a pair or them sound particularly nice at about 430V 27mA int...
