Re: Help me pick the best spot for my speaker jack and OT wires.

I tried several different locations and did not notice any extra noise from the heaters when placed in the original location so thats where it ended up...Thanks.

Help me pick the best spot for my speaker jack and OT wires.

This is a liverpool combo that I have just cleaned up the heaters on. Problem is my heaters now travel right next to where my speaker jack is normally located. http://www.flickr.com/photos/toddrjackson/7330790812/ Notice the 2 holes between v1 and v2 thats where my speaker jack normally resides........

Re: liverpool very bright

I swapped my pots over to 10% tolerance audio taper CTS pots from mojo and they made a huge improvement. I also put in a 1 meg bass pot and it does seem to be pushing a bit more bass. I originally built it from the Ron Worley layout so it had the 250k Value in it before. Glen is right the more gradu...

Re: Volume is more of an on-off wheres the taper?

I have been using the guitar volume but would like to have a useable range on the amp as well. I have swapped values and tapers and really have not found one that acts as it should. Might try a few more values before I give up. Amp sounds fantastic just wish it was a bit less all or nothing on the v...

Volume is more of an on-off wheres the taper?

I have swapped from a 1MA to a 500K to get a better range and its only slightly better with all of the volume happening in the first 1/3 of the pot......after that it works more like a gain knob. Is this typical of wrecks?

Re: (Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

I swapped back in the 500pF to try and it is still very bright. I am going to pull this cap altogether and see how it goes. I also swapped in a A500K volume pot because I had one handy and it really seemed to make the volume a bit more usable. With the A1M when you barely turned it on you had what s...

Re: (Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

Just to catch this post up .....I got this fixed. I had a grounded connection to the presence from the board. After I fixed this the tone controls got more responsive. Volume pot was hosed as well. One side worked ok but pot had to be wired backwards to get it working. I swapped in a PEC 1m to test ...

Re: (Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

I measured the pot and it is a audio and it still works when my voltmeter is hooked to it....I found an old post that described my problem exactly and something was wired wrong on the tube. I am going back over my connections and hopefully I will find something. I reflowed all of my grounds and chec...

Re: (Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

I tried the pot wired like you said and it did make the pot function backwards.......I added a ground from the buss bar to the chassis direct and also noticed that I was missing the wire from the speaker terminal to ground and added that. This may have helped the ground a bit but it really didn't ch...

Re: (Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

Yes the tone pots do seem to work....small adjustments to the tone controls do change the tone. I tested the ground reference from the back of the pot to the chassis and I do have a good ground. I can try swapping the pot wiring but it seems like that would make the pot work backwards...A clockwise ...

(Fixed)Liverpool Issues...volume pot has no effect, squeals

I just finished this Liverpool Combo and it seems to work pretty well except the volume pot doesn't seem to have any effect on the volume....it seems like the amp is dimed all of the time. I can control the volume from my guitar and at very low volumes the amp sounds great. Also some oscillation and...

Re: 15 watt Liverpool Combo Build

A closed back 4x12 with Sammi 40's it sounds great ! The voltage on my PT is a bit hot so I just keep it scaled back to normal liverpool levels. I would like to use the upper 20% of my voltage knob but will need to swap the PT to get it right. Does the OT with the 10.5k sound different than the stoc...
