I tried several different locations and did not notice any extra noise from the heaters when placed in the original location so thats where it ended up...Thanks.

This is a liverpool combo that I have just cleaned up the heaters on. I have swapped from a 1MA to a 500K to get a better range and its only slightly better with all of the volume happening in the first 1/3 of the pot......after that it works more like a gain knob. Is this typical of wrecks?

I tried the pot wired like you said and it did make the pot function backwards.......I added a ground from the buss bar to the chassis direct and also noticed that I was missing the wire from the speaker terminal to ground and added that. This may have helped the ground a bit but it really didn't ch...

Yes the tone pots do seem to work....small adjustments to the tone controls do change the tone. I tested the ground reference from the back of the pot to the chassis and I do have a good ground. I can try swapping the pot wiring but it seems like that would make the pot work backwards...A clockwise ...

A closed back 4x12 with Sammi 40's it sounds great ! The voltage on my PT is a bit hot so I just keep it scaled back to normal liverpool levels.
