Re: Today you choose.... FORD's or TAG's
Snubbers on V2A and V2B are both 25pF on TKT? I wouldn't have seen that coming from a mile away.
I'm fighting the urge to say "thanks", per request.

Whoa...that is sick. Slamming across the board.
I've noticed the same thing you speak of. Granted, I'm just learning to crawl while you're running marathons on the guitar...but my reborn amp is already impacting my playing. It's a joy to play through.

Re: 100W non-HRM pièce de résistance
I've been searching for some 30% taper pots without much success. I'd try the PEC, but I think they're still in the 10-15% range. I know some might scoff, but I'm into settings that "look right". With 15% taper pots and the Skyline stack, things certainly look a little suspect. ;) Mr. Rissi's eBay h...

Re: 100W non-HRM pièce de résistance
Thanks guys! I'm not sure if Mr. Rissi has anymore or not. He does have some really neat stuff up for sale, though. Lots of great Fender parts from the '60s. I just met him through his listing for the transformer. He's a really nice guy, and has a pretty neat story. I agree, there's something (I hat...

Thanks!
The original was a Heyboer I bought from Brandon years back. It sounded awesome in it's own way...but this one is really happening in this amp!

100W non-HRM pièce de résistance
I was fortunate enough to acquire this bad boy from Robert Rissi, one of the engineers at Fender during the '60s. It's an original Schumacher Twin OT from 1969. Needless to say, it sounds incredible in my 100W non-HRM Skyline. The amp feels more responsive to my playing, which I didn't expect. The h...

Re: Question on Twin conversion to non HRM
1) They'd be great, just clean the socket and retension as mentioned. 2) Personally, I wouldn't. Not because I don't think they'd sound good...but because they'd be better suited for a different project. Hell, you might even be able to pull the "turd" caps and sell them on eBay to pay for the conver...

Re: Bludo Ojai tuning compared to GW Phat Momma tuning
Great clips, Scott. I like the tones of both. I think the Phat Momma's, errr, momma would be proud. The Ojai is killing as always. I think both are equally good and have their own thing going on.
What EL34s are in the Phat Momma? Winged C?

Re: Clip comparison of Tung Sol 6L6 STR vs Phillips 7581
Interestingly enough, I think both sound great. Like you said, the 7581 seems a little clearer across the EQ range. I like the thickness of the Tung-Sol, though. IME, the 7581s make any amp sound much clearer and more articulate. They're my favorite 6L6, too bad they've essentially become unobtainiu...

Re: Old Larry Carlton guitar rig video
Great information, guys. Thanks!
Gil, is there something about the way the AudioArts colors the tone as an individual unit, or would any decent parametric EQ work?
