Re: Transformer heat to hot?
A good filter cap will be room/ambient temperature. A cap that is passing current will be warm of hot. While probing the 20uf cap on the left i heard crackle, chopsticked the cath and lo and behold looseness. more soldering, now no crackle. i just need to get a practice for three hours and test the...

Transformer heat to hot?
So the rocket i built sounds great but gets to 62c after a couple of hours or faster depending on the volume i use it at. I'm assuming that the NOS Mallory, CDE caps i bought off ebay 40uf-450v and 20uf 450v might be to blame. can i test this or might something else be wrong?. i used the BOM and lay...

Re: should i put tubes in?
I can't seem to get above 30. I've tried the 150k resistor but no change mostly 20's. went back to 220k I'm using the Bourns 3329H-1-253LF 25k wondering if using the 22k might work?

I have a buzz whether vol or not. C6 .047 is microphonic Went to 716p. still buzzing and seems to be expressive of a ground leak? putting meter on pin 7 of PI silences the buzz.

Re: Rocket build
On the layout it says preamp resistors could be 56-68k and on the power section it could be 100 ohm or 470 possibly 1000.
