The original Express I saw had these bumpers/feet on it. Made by Budwig.
Model F8B. I ordered some from Mouser a while back and they looked right and sounded great!
Hope that helps.

Re: Komet Express
I did the Asteriod preamp with an Express power supply in an old Bassman chassis. I used the original Bassman power xformer/choke and a Hammond 1650H for the output. 1650H 40W, 6600 ct, Ultralinear taps 40%, 4/8/16 ohm, max. DC 200mA, 6L6GC, 807, 5881, EL34. Not sure if it sounds like a TW, an Astro...

Here are the numbers for Allied, Everything except the switch. You will also need the input/output jacks, knobs, wire, nuts/bolts etc. These do sound good, less compressed that a THD HP. Alllied Part # 296-4317 RJS150 Each $35.86 296-2280 D100K25R Each $17.68 296-4521 L100J25RE Each $10.40 806-3031 ...

Re: Rocket Group Build project
Here is some Dyna transformer info/specs from the Triode Electronics site. I think they sell Dyna clone transformers as well. Might be a cool alternative to the "standard" TW iron.

Stackpole Impedence Selector
Just got a response from Electroswitch concerning the original Stackpole switch used in TWs. Electroswitch bought Stackpole years ago. The original Stackpole switch used in TWs is part # 73-1037. The Electroswitch version is part# C4D0206N-4029. Mouser has 'em for $15.32 a pop. http://www.mouser.com...

Thanks for the tip. I heard there was an increase on Atom prices as well but I don't think they are $23.00!

Mallory TC 80
Hello all,
Does anyone have a good source for Mallory/CDE TC80 filter caps?
Got the bug to start a Rocket build. Should I just go with the Sprague Atoms and get on with it?
Thanks for the help

Re: Dirty Little Monster
This is from the Weber Tube Amp Talk book page 258:
" My own Champ has a Groove Tube
#7 6550A output tube, a 10" celestion speaker, bigger transformers, a hot Marshall style preamp, a presence control, and yes- a master volume!"
Might be some clues in there somewhere?

Re: What's your bias set at?
I set my bias pot so I'm reading -30VDC on pin 5. Did the shunt method at this setting and was reading 37 and 38 ma on a matched pair of new Winged C EL-34s.
Plate voltage was 396VDC. Sounds very nice (and LOUD)this way.
Hope that helps.

Re: Preamp Grounding
I used the Clarostat pots and then daisy-chained the grounds on the pots to a ground tab on the chassis by the presence control. I tied the cathode points together and then ran another wire to the same ground tab. Seems to work fine. The input jack is just grounded to the chassis with its mounting n...

Re: Volume Pot Taper Question
It still does not have a gradual taper like some other amps I have. Pretty much loud and louder. I can set the volume pot to the loudest setting that I need and then control the overall volume from the guitar. Not sure if this is how a real wreck responds or not. I'm happy with the sound and may kee...

Re: Bias pot location...
Go big and add a ten turn pot and a locking adjustment knob ala Komet:
NTE-505-0004 462 DIAL 1 X.25 10 TURN
CLAROSTAT 73JA 50K
I think Allied and Digikey carry the pots. Not sure who has the locking knobs.
Hope that helps

Re: My Second Express Build - Done (almost)
I bought the teflon wire that Angela sells. Kimber product I believe. The stuff ain't cheap at a buck a foot but works great and Steve had all the colors I needed. I know you are looking for the solid core stuff but the Kimber is 19AWG and it stays where you put it. Just a thought. The build looks r...

Re: Starting an amp building project ('90 Kelly).
Maybe check out the Hammond 1650G as well:
1650G
35 Watts
6,600 ct
200 ma.
3.5/8/16/250/500
Seems kinda like the Stancor output doesn't it? Just a thought. Good luck with the build
