Re: New Trainwreck style PCBs

Just fired up the Express Build , Loving this PCB , I squeezed it into a Hammond Aluminium Chassis and it's turned out a treat . Sounds fantastic , I did some slight changes as I didn't want it the same as my Barwatt Express Head , And I had an old JTM45 OT spare so I went with that and used KT66's ...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping

The first Fender Deluxe? Whose schematic is this? I couldn't find anything prior to the 5A3, whose supposed schematic (according to ampwares) shows a 5M grid leak resistor on input - if I read well :? The 1st Fender Deluxe was the Model 26 , called "woodies" by collectors, It was housed in a wooden...

Re: New Trainwreck style PCBs

Hello boys and girls! As part as a new product line for my PCBs, I've decided to venture into a Trainwreck style PCB! Took me a good couple of months to get everything sorted but here's the final result! I'm planning to send this out to the manufacturer next week, and it will then available on my w...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping

Thousand thanks! Did you really made for an 0M grid leak resistor option on input? I don't think that would be sustainable... :? It's the only switch I had in my stash , I'll swap it out eventually , though it doesn't seem to cause an issue at the moment, many early 40's amps didn't have it, the fi...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping Mod

Thanks! I'll have to study how that behaves. Seems that you are satisfied with it, at least. It was to fit in with the single tone tweed deluxe guise layout of the faceplate . It's Rich Gordons mod, I simply incorporated it , I haven't played with the values yet though it seems pretty good with Ric...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping Mod

Perhaps what you want is more like this: Express_AMW_2.GIF Thanks for fixing that for me , I get what you're saying now I changed it to an on/off/on toggle so It gave options ,1M, 0 , 2M It's very subtle , but it's there . I have a close friend who put his harmonicas through it , definitely needed ...

If you don't mind one question from an ignorant: how about that tone control?
Not sure what you're asking , it's an alternative to the standard TMB tone control

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping Mod

Here it is , I really like the 2M input , over the standard 1M ... As drawn, the input impedance is 63.9K on either input. The grounded resistor on the jack is the 'input resistor.' It sets the amp's input impedance to 1,000,000 ohms (1M) or 2,000,000 (2M) to boost the signal voltage from the guita...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping Mod

I really like the 2M input , over the standard 1M ... Why, may I ask? cheers, It adds a little sparkle overall, It's not like a bright cap , just an audible difference which I like, hard to explain but you can definitely hear it . I first saw it my 1946 Fender Model 26 Deluxe , It was on the Mic in...

Re: Express/ Liverpool Cold Clipping Mod

Is anyone interested in the schematic of my musings .... after many hours of changing the values of components, chopping /changing and trying all the possibilities I can think of , I have finally come up with my own recipe for this amp. You may find a better recipe. It's combining the Rich Gordon de...

Always experimenting , I went down to 820R to see what it would do ... it induced microphonics that were just too annoying and couldn't be tamed ... I think 1.5k is about the limit

That's a beauty, Mark. A very clean build. What speakers are you running in that 2x12 and open or closed? Cheers Thanks for your kind words. I’m still working out the speaker situation. I have been using my Marshall 18 watter as a speaker box. It has a Blue and a H30 in it. In the pic the amp is si...

Re: Who still makes great hardwood cabs for Trainwreck amps?

That wood is breathtaking, what is it? It's Queensland Swamp Mahogany Stunning piece of wood :o It is isn't it, There were 15 logs dumped on our property when we bought it , I had no idea what it was , I cut into a piece and saw the deep red, I thought it was Cedar , I hired a mobile saw mill and h...
