Re: Moving the PI to earlier in the circuit
Thanks Phil Yes- I do get the rotation of the Power tubes and the point of the PI. That I am very familiar with. But I was thinking if a single preamp stages preceded the PI. And if that preamp stage had modest gain- ( or if the PI was Cathodyne for less gain) Surely there would be space for hitting...

Moving the PI to earlier in the circuit
Hello all. Last night after 3 whiskeys and a bunch of Uncle Doug videos I came up with this question. Please indulge me- I have not built anything serious for about 6 years and am getting back into the game. So I am rusty as hell: What would happen if you moved the PI to directly after the 1st gain ...

Re: Traynor YGM 3 Tremolo trouble
Thank you Xtian. Will check tomorrow. I suspect that would be a tremolo tube cathode cap?

Traynor YGM 3 Tremolo trouble
Hello everyone. It has been over a year since I have been active here. I have gotten rusty with amps and hardly get to tinker around much any more, so I am hoping to get some short cut advice. My YGM3 Tremolo doesn't work. Actually I bought it not working. The tubes are good so that can't be it. The...

Re: Two tips for taming 'shrillness' in Express clones
Thanks Mark Appreciate your response. YEs- I may be wrong about the 150K resistor- I did not open the amp and may have simply remembered the value from Express Schems. Certainly when I built the amp I did not deviate too much from the original design except adding a PPIMV later. OK- so based on your...

.....And no I do not have the Hi- shunt mod. That sounds interesting
What was the Multi turn pot value? I guess a regular pot would do if insulated from chassis?
Thanks as always

Re: Two tips for taming 'shrillness' in Express clones
Hi Mark
Standard as per the Liverpool Schem. I need to open the amp but pretty sure it is a .002 cap (.001 x 2 in parralel) and a 150K resistor.
Seems you think if I thicken up the sound there and drop some signal- I may not need the other changes?

Re: Two tips for taming 'shrillness' in Express clones
Hi Mark (Abbott) Well I was thinking a bit of presence to keep the signal cleaner especially at higher gain but then the treble cut to shave off the excess on top especially with single coils. So I wonder what the values may be for a "set presence" I can/should probably play around with low resistor...

Re: Two tips for taming 'shrillness' in Express clones
While not traditional Trainwreck, I like to get rid of the presence and replace it with a treble cut pot. Sold a few of thoses to weekend bandits getting lots of play time. No more treble problems or presence circuit problems. Mark Mark Quick question please- Do you still apply set feedback (presen...
