Re: Strange noises from trainwreck clone build
Update on what I have tried: Moved the transformer center taps to the ground side of the first filter cap. This helped, but still have hum/buzz. I have a new set of preamp tubes and will try those out once they arrive. I ran the amp through my variac to use it as an isolation transformer to eliminat...

Re: Strange noises from trainwreck clone build
I rolled V1 to V2 same result. Then V3 with V2 (previously V1) and still same. I can hear the click when I switch the bright switch back and forth also.

Re: Strange noises from trainwreck clone build
Ok, so I took the amp chassis out of the cabinet. Then I swapped the OT leads on the power tubes. I took a wooden dowel and started chop sticking the wires and moving wires around that were close together or crossing each other to make sure that they crossed at right angles as much as possible. I st...

Re: Strange noises from trainwreck clone build
Do you mean the OT Primary windings at the power tubes? The PT goes to the power input rectifier, and the heaters at the tubes.

Strange noises from trainwreck clone build
Good day all! So i finished my clone build of a trainwreck express from a kit. It is great, except for the noise that I am hearing whether an instrument is plugged in or not. The first is just background humming. When I turn on the standby switch, I can hear a buzzing that is in the background. Like...

Power soak attenuators
Folks,
What' s the consensus on using a power soak attenuator like the Bugera PS1 Passive 100-watt Power Attenuator? Can it damage your amp? And can you run 2 in series to cut it down to 1/4 volume but sustain its tone?

Re: Best Currently Available Express OT in 2022?
I have the MM OT in my clone, and it sounds awesome to me! I agree that the PT probably doesn't have any effect on tone. But you have to have the HP to crank it.

Re: Trainwreck express clone build B4 na dB5 connect under tho board?
Thanks Phil! It's ALIVE!
But I get some random scratchy noise after playing for about a half hour. It comes and goes intermittently. Any ideas on that?

Re: Choke versus resistor for power filtering
So I have a 3Hy, 250mA choke for a Marshall. Would I have to include a capacitor or another resistor in series with it? Are any additions needed to maintain the voltages?

Choke versus resistor for power filtering
Guys,
I have read, that people feel a choke on the power board would sound better than the resistor that is in the express schematics/layout.
My question is, does the choke go in the circuit in place of the 1K 25W resistor on the power supply board, just ahead of the capacitor stack?
Thanks

Trainwreck express clone build B4 na dB5 connect under tho board?
Guys there are 2 arrows in the middle of the tone stack board that say B4 and B5 on the layout. This may be a dumb question, but anyway does that mean to connect under the board with a jumper to the pins B4 and B5 on the right?
Thanks for your patience.
