Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

Yes, that's what I meant to say and yes, I have that schematic, enlarged and ready to go. I've already got the 345k trimmer on the board. Let's see what it's like before I see if I want to switch it with a 100k.
Thanks for the link and info.

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

Ok, stripped out all the wiring, been reading and video watching and will start take-two shortly. Will check all the resistors making sure they're the correct ones, easy to get mixed up.....so many choices... Bought good PVC covered 20gauge wire...last stuff was cheap rubber covered that melted when...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

I have a Weller 40watt from Menards, cost like $15. I have a solder sucker too so removal isn't so bad.
Thans for replies and info.

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

So, I compared the '88 Skyliner to the'84 #124 schematics and ordered the parts that are different between the two. I also bought good quality tinned PVC covered wire as I just used cheap plastic covered wire which melted when I soldered the ends. I will start stripping back the chassis to start my ...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

To sluckey, those aren't 10k resistors, that is V4 and those are 120R resistors, one to ground and one to two of the pins according to the layout. I have mistakenly used the layout more than I should have as I think these may be different on the schematic. I don't have it right in front of me to che...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

Started looking at the Skyline, Couple resistor changes, add a couple resistors, change two caps, and a trim pot, on the preamp board, not too bad so far. So I was using the original 1984 schematic but need to pay more attention to the schematics, that's where the correct stuff seems to be. I've dow...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

K, I'll take a good look at it.
If it's got a better sound to it, it would be worth it.
Thak you,
Brian
More bike pics.
I didn't do the paint job but I designed the pattern.
Made the sissy bar, gas tank, and lots of mounts and things.

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

I'll stop working nights on it, it's not a good idea. I always try to be safe when I work on it. I have a bulb limiter and have been using it when I turn the amp on. I do it without valves and speaker, won't do these till no more smoking resisters and voltages are correct. Maybe they're smoking caus...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

To all on "The Amp Garage" "Public apology" Just so we're clear, I'm not mad or upset with anybody.....hopefully no one is mad at me... I really thank you for pointing out the mistakes I have made. I probably thought that an amp would be easier to build than it is. I was wrong. I can say that, I'm n...

I'm in Wisconsin....Thanks for the offer, No hard feelings, ijedouglas, hopefully we're all friends and can take criticism as a learning tool. Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

Jumpers are all underneath the boards. All you guys run your wires under the boards and it's hard for us to see where they go. OK, I see what I missed, (heater wires) I'll take care of it tonight. Again, I am new at amp building, have done pedals, guitars, cars and choppers but this is my first amp....

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....

Good news, finally finished, still have to wire the footswitch though. Bad news, I turn on the standby and the test light does nothing, amp make no sound or hum. Turn on the power switch and the light blinks a little, amp still makes no noise or hum. Then if I wait about 30seconds the 22K resister o...
