Re: CE Chassis Bolts
The problem is fine machine threads, not metallurgy. Lubricant should always be used and hand tighten.10-24 would be better for people who are in a hurry. Machine threads are too exact and they have very little wiggle room. I use rivet nuts and have zero issues.Oh,and aircraft stainless fasteners do...

Re: CE Chassis Mounting Screw Recommendation
Thanks for the sticky, Structo! I'd like to add that I've seen quite a bit of variance in the PEMnut 'quality', in the chassis we've built... in the latest run I've been trying to dry-fit the 10-32 screw in each hole... if I feel 'stickiness' I've been running a 10-32 tap through the hole and that s...

Re: Yet Another 183 (Sort of w/HRM) In Progress
I wasn't aware that CE was selling four preamp chassis? Tom at one time CE was selling your choice three or four preamp tube chassis. Mark On the latest build we got a few 4-preamp-hole chassis made. They are now laser-cut like the latest 3-hole ones. I have two left and a 'blemished' chassis that ...

Re: Neodymium Guitar Speakers
I paired a Tonkerlite with a Red, White & Blues in a Dumble-style 2x12 to get a nice balance. You still need to back off on the presence a bit because it seems like the Tonkerlite has plenty of 'presence' built-in!

I'm pretty sure I got it at Active Tech (http://www.active123.com) but it might've been Reset Electronics (now closed).David Root wrote:mdroberts, thanx a lot for that tip about electroless tinning. Which store chains in Canada carry it?

Re: Normster D style amp
Tom I will check all that out Sunday thanks a lot. BobW I use house wiring too, just trying to figure out how to get a long straight section, you know looking good. :) I never did get over to the crafts store for the brass rods. Mark If you lock one end of the wire in a vise and pull other with pli...

Re: #183 Bass Pot Approximation
Couldn't you get a perfectly linear sweep with your B589K pot and a 665K resistor tied across lug 3 and 1? This will give you 312K but won't mess with the tapering. Right? Mouser part#: 273-665K-RC DogEars pointed out the obvious... that the PAB relay makes the bass pot a varistor (in Rock mode, as...

#183 Bass Pot Approximation
I was frustrated at not being able to find / make a 312kB pot for the bass in my 183 build. I tried scraping a high-ish 250kB to get 312k but a slip of the exacto blade and I had a non-linear 1.3M ohm pot... reliability would be suspect in any case. I've seen people propose paralleling resistors wit...

Re: #183 5th Generation ODS Skyliner. Layout/Schematic
Good catch Tom! Comes from working with too-small printouts of the layout. I've updated the schematic posted above and included measured voltages from my build.Structo wrote:Schematic shows 100K on V2b should be 180K.

Re: 3rd Generation Period Correct ODS 50W
What about the fourth preamp tube? Fx loop added after the fact, right? Tony mentioned it in the post. Sorry if I seemed like I was calling you out- that wasn't my intent. I was just looking over the pics and caught the discrepancy. Have a good day. P.S.- thanks for the schematic. One more for the ...

Re: Dunk
Can you explain...'dunk it it in tinning solution' ? How does that work? A I have a product from MG Chemicals called "Liquid Tin" I think it is generically known as Electroless Tin. You immerse cleaned PCBs or copper wire into it for about 5 minutes and then rinse and dry them off... they come out ...

Definitely not the same amp as layout.

Schematic for #70
UPDATED: Thanks to Stevlech for catching a couple of errors in the schematic... I should've used a larger printout of Tony's layout! I've tried to create a schematic that checks out against Tony's layout. There was some confusion in the FET circuit as a ground connection seems to be missing between ...
