Re: Master Volume in Effects Loop
Ah! Thanks for the clarification. FWIW, all the HRM builds I've done for the past couple of years I've been using the traditional 'Ratio/Master' topology rather than the dual master. I use a 1M linear taper for the ratio and 1M audio taper for the master and there doesn't appear to be any significan...

I second this question!jelle wrote:Why put a pot there? The master volume does exactly what you described in a non hrm. In a hrm, the levels are independent anyway.

Re: Presence on/off values
You say the knob 'click's off at zero? Henry uses this feature in some of his amps - a switched Presence pot to disconnect the negative feedback from the circuit in the off position. This will result in a volume jump of about 6 dB and change in the feel as well. Henry and Shad have been working toge...

Re: Cable for Footswitch: NOW FIXED, added PICS
FYI: those CE cables don't last for working musicians. They are just not hardy. I went through a couple with internal breaks, then put MIDI jacks on the footswitch and amp. I now use a standard heavy duty MIDI cable. Your mileage may vary. All disclaimers apply Check with your dealer for details .....

Re: Troubleshooting Help, New 183, Low Voltages
The problem is that the amp has uniformly low voltage as follows (unloaded readings - no tubes): B+1 = 389 vdc B+2 = 389 vdc B+3 = 378 vdc B+4 = 298 vdc B+5 = 298 Heaters = 2.9 vac Not exactly uniformly ... the heater is cut in half compare to the others, which are only reduced. Does this heater ha...

Re: OT A/B test
You did the test that I've always wanted to do... congrats! I did a similar comparison (testing the same trannies as you) only I used the power section of two different amps with matched (as best I could) tube sets and cabs and used the pre-out form a single amp to switch back and forth between the ...

Re: Why DID HAD use suede on his amps?
Late to the party, but here's a couple of suede rigs i did last year. I used a fabric adhesive called Fabri-tac. Good stuff and a bit easier to work with than contact adhesives.

Re: Other speakers for Thiele 806 cab?
I dug the Eminence Texas Heat in a Theile cab, as well as a Celestion G1265 and a "Two Rock" labeled WGS ET-65 Interesting about your experience with the Two Rock labeled WGS. Like I said, the standard WGS ET65 didn't work for me. And it was not a question of not sound good - it was physically bott...

Re: Other speakers for Thiele 806 cab?
I've tried several Celestions including a Vintage 30 (which I never much cared for until I tried it in a TL806) and a Heritage G12-65. Both worked quite well. I tried two WGS speakers - BL80 and ET65 and they did not work at all - they both resonated in the TL806 and bottomed out.
