AB763 - Reverb return to PI Pin 7

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me how returning the reverb signal to the 100n PI (pin 7) input affects the tone in a typical blackface style topology?

Thanks

David Lindley tone on 'Driving Wheels'.

Hi gents, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G3rpMurkX4 I just found out that David Lindley playes steel guitar on one of my favourite tracks on Aussie rocker Jimmy Barnes 'Driving Wheels' song. Can someone tell me what king of amp this would have been played on. I'm assuming it's a Dumble, can someone...

Re: CF vs plate fed tone stack

One of the new Mesa Boogie amps has a switch to go between plate fed & CF.

I don't know the name of the amp but if you google mesa boogie schematics & look through the current amps you'll see the way they implement the switch.

Re: Dave Friedman mods to Concorde?

Why mod a concorde? Why don't you ask Pete Thorn. I'm thinking of building one & from the clips I've heard on Youtube from Pete Thorn & from what I've read on this forum about the Concorde is that it has a lot of gain, therefore why not mod it too get more usable gain from the entire volume knob. I...

Dave Friedman mods to Concorde?

Hi guys,

I came across a thread on TGP by Pete Thorn where he had Dave Friedman mod his Concorde to get more usable gain from the amp.

Does anyone know what the mod is?

Thanks

Re: Any one been inside a Komet 19 yet?

I went & played with the homebrew amp today & will probably ditch that 'saturation' control as I had it in my amp. It's a good way to get a bit more crunch out of the amp, & a good way to tweak the gain as well. Someone mentioned earlier that the Komet 19 is based of the 18 watt TMB Superlite, & I t...

Re: Any one been inside a Komet 19 yet?

Here's the preamp I've got in my little fixed bias 6V6 amp.

I think the Komet 19 is similar to this, except with the Supro tonestack & probably different preamp values.

Re: Any one been inside a Komet 19 yet?

However, with the Komet 19 'saturation' control I think it just varies the grid bias after the second gain stage.
Actually I meant to say that I think the 'saturation' control increases the resistance to ground BEFORE the second gain stage.

Re: Any one been inside a Komet 19 yet?

Actually I was giving this some thought last night after I was looking at Doug Hoffman's 18 watt stout schematic. And I think the Komet 19 follows the same topology, however you have to swap the tonestack to the supro style & the Komet 19 has a solid state rectifier & there's obviously more differen...

Re: Any one been inside a Komet 19 yet?

I'm bumping this thread because I want gut shots. I'll be happy with the topology. Is V1 a paralleled triode or is it cascaded? If it's a paralleled triode it might be Supro Tone control which is tweed style with 500K pots & a 3.3n to ground off the tone pot & then into LTPI & then the saturation m...

So if you had a .02 feeding the 3rd gain stage your thinking it might overload that stage?

Re: Q regarding 2nd gain stage & EQ

Thanks guys. I haven't built an Express, it was just a technical question regarding the Express's circuit.

I've heard a good clone down here in Australia, which is now being used by the guitarist Dave Leslie from the Baby Animals. Maybe one day I'll build one.

Thanks

Re: Sozo electrolytics, interesting!

That is interesting. I didn't know that Electrolytics could effect the tone at all. I thought that some brands were probably more reliable and had more consistent values than others, but not tone. What about their coupling caps, what do you think of those? Would you use them in a tweed or blackface ...
