Re: Transmission Line Speaker Cabinets for HiFi

Look up Bud Fried. Fried speakers were quite popular in the nineties. They also supplied plans for your own "build". They sold these kits for a while and you may still find a few. It was a Monitor that sat on top of a sort of passive sub. Here's blurb about them. http://www.hometheaterequipment.com/...

Nice! Bursts are so hard to photograph. Everything looks more right on this iteration. That should be a beauty when all buffed out.
Thanks for giving us these little peeks.

Re: LP Scratch build

I've had luck w/ walnut pore filler, then a mahogany stain, the a spray of that heritage cherry your spraying. Then you can tint w/ amber to age. Your mileage may vary as they say. Glad your project is shaping up.

Re: LP Scratch build

Hope your Rolph pickups meet your expectations. I just got caught up w/ your thread and am glad to hear JM was of some help. If you want to see someone do it from the ground up, there is an amazing thread Gil Yaron contributed to the telecaster forum a few years ago that you may find interesting. En...

Re: LP Scratch build

Regarding JM Rolph. You have to call him. Tell him what kind of wood etc. He'll ask what you play and what kind of sound, he'll even play stuff over the phone. The guy has alot of experience. Keith Richards tele has his pickups in it. I've rolled my own and came up w/a sound I like, but that takes a...

Re: 12AX7 vs 6n2p-EV

These are a more durable 6922/6DJ8 variant.
They are great on an Audible Illusions stereo preamp I own and these tubes are some of the few that can sustain the high voltages the phono section hits them with.
They sound great for stereo listening, but not sure about instrument amplification.

Re: Thank you forum members and administrators

Totally agree. So much so that I dropped out of here after my builds were complete to enjoy playing them. I still get curious from time to time and check in. The collective here are all aces. If I can answer anything or help I do feel obligated to pay it forward and treat others as I was treated here.

Re: Scott Lerner in the Hospital

Holy crap! Glad to hear your recovering. Now it's going to be fun getting your chops back up after not playing for a while.
I'm sure you'll hear things differently while getting reaquainted with the instrument again.
Salud Scott, hope to hear some clips soon.

I've done one w/ that OT.
Used an old Fender(Schumacher) PT with it in a BM config.
It'll work.

Re: Les Paul re-build

I'll have to put in a plug for the Wolfetone Dr.V set. I will say they can be a little on the bright side for some. It really depends on where you want the guitar to go soundwise. I will also add that the "MapleFlame" mod as it's referred on the LPF does help bass clarity and overall note definition...

That's great! Find some sort of efficiant folded horn design speakers and you'll be in buisiness. I used to see guys push Klipsch Horns w/ such amps and the results were great.
