Re: where to get Perforated board
RJ's boards look good, and he's got nothing but glowing approval from transactions here on this board. I think it would be hard to go wrong there. However, another guy who we know over in the Marshall-esque end of things is: http://www.kurtsequipment.com/reproboards/ His boards are perfed as well (o...

Re: Any of you in the BC/WA area?
Depends where you are in BC -- but there's a number of great spots to check out in terms of tube amplifier related stuff, and DIY stuff in general. Send me a PM sometime and I can give you my short list of hideaways and money-drainers. I sent a PM but there have been a few reports of board problems ...

Re: AM Radio Interference-How to cure?
Also, some house wiring systems (particularly older houses with aluminum wiring) can act as a massive antenna. I always use IEC sockets in my junk, and can always swap in an IEC socket with a filter on it, such as one of these: [img:239:200]http://www.newark.com/productimages/farnell/standard/958633...

Re: AM Radio Interference-How to cure?
Yep. One of us Radio folks would probably help out. You can build a jammer that will block a range of frequencies, for example: http://home.telkomsa.net/jeanward/fm_jammer.html Or a jammer that you tune to the specific problem area. Make sure to keep the power of your jammer small. It only needs to ...

Thanks for sharing! 8) Major Twang Glad you had a look, Major Twang! Sweet job! 8) Thanks Jelle! Beautiful Job!!!!!!!!!!! :D Thanks Allyn! Nice job. Usually you see the HV protected with a series 1/2 amp fuse and the filaments just work off the main fuse. Most people don't use the heater center tap...

Re: 45/100 Style Build
While we're here, I'm wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of putting the two center taps of the power transformer (both HT and heaters) on the same fuse to ground. In the last photo, on the transformer, you can see I've used a green wire with a yellow stripe on it to connect two of the PT lu...

Re: wrecked the marshall circuit!
On the other hand one could possibly argue that the Marshall preamp section you were replacing (with this Fender one) is really a Fender preamp section. . . and that the Marshall power amp section was really a Fender power section as well. Just slight slight changes. So you replaced an older, slight...

Then there is also the solo to 'Reelin' in the Years:' "That was my ’63 Fender Stratocaster with a PAF humbucker in the neck position, straight into an Ampeg SVT bass amp. The SVT wouldn’t have been my first choice for an amp—or even my fifth choice—but that Strat is still my go-to guitar that I use...

Re: Ampeg SVT
Gordie Johnson, formerly of Big Sugar, now of Grady, uses a Garnet Herzog into two Ampeg SVTs for his live rig. Of course, it's ridiculously loud. But on the recordings I've heard, he gets a phenomenal sound from it. Definitely can provide plenty of sustain from sheer volume alone. http://www.youtub...
