Re: Steve Farris ODS #075
You could be right. I imagine a few deals could have turned sour for Mr D in the early days, customers not paying deposit/balance by due date and a chassis being shelved until it was legally o.k to keep the money and resell amp. With his tech skills I don't think it would have taken him long to 'tun...

Re: Steve Farris ODS #075
The one before it on Rob's dumble page (dumble #006x) was dated August '79 so assuming mr D pumped out roughly 10 units per year during his career late '80 to early '81 sounds about right.

Re: Dumble ODS Video on YouTube
From the sweetness of the cleans I'd say it a nonHRM with 100k plates for clean and 100k for OD with internal trimmer set high. It has that EJ fuzztone on inbetween and neck settings. I'd imagine with humbucker neck alone it would splatter like a good fuzzpedal. I built a 100watt 100k nonHRM combo f...

Re: Fender AB763 Tremolux caper
Had one for 10 years as main workhorse. Paid $300 for head and cab in perfect original condition not a cap was touched. During that time I pulled out the baffle and original speakers replaced with new baffle and 12"s. Replaced screen resistors with 1Ks, added a resistor to bias circuit and popped in...

Constructive criticism is more important than negative feedback but whether your present or absent is another story. Roll with it

Slightly to large for a 6ca4, I'd hazard a guess at a cap-can of some sort but my eyes aren't the best. Strange place for a can anyways.

Re: Next amp questions,..
I didn't know its the same guy...the ebay name is different...
It's not Natchanis selling it on ebay, it's an ebay seller reselling a Natchanis chassis. Hope that makes sense. I don't think Natchanis sells them on ebay any longer, too much heat from grumble himself.

Re: Next amp questions,..
I think you'll find that the ebay chassis is made by Natchanis from Thailand. A friend ordered one and recieved the exact same one as in those ebay photos ( including fishpaper boards). The aluminum 80s style chassis on Natchanis site looks better quality.

Re: Larry carlton's show-Bud volume pedal
I tried my sho-bud pedal. I could understand what Brandon said. (boost high's the last few cm of travel.) But my pedal has noise when I move pedal, so I want to replace pot. The original pot is Allen-bradley 500kA, but it is hard to find now. Which pot is good? Please advise. Brandon, Did you get t...

Re: Help needed with amp choice, hrm or nonhrm
Thanks guys, all good advice and all taken on board as well. Well after searching this afternoon I've dug up 2 sets of Mercury Magnets TwinReverb OTs and 2 Weber PTs. At this stage I'll build both, nonHRM and HRM. My wife won't be happy as I'm supposed to be house renovating not messing with amps. B...

Re: Gibson ES339
Worked on a few for a local guitar tech when he was busy. Needed solder joints reflowed on them and 1 or 2 had dicky switches. Same with new BBking 345s. Overall real nice guitars and more meat on the necks help with sustain and tone. If you get a chance try out the '58 or '59 reissue (can't remembe...

Help needed with amp choice, hrm or nonhrm
Dear Abby My 15yo nephew has been playing piano and singing since he was 5yo and in the last couple of years he has taken up guitar. He has a nice collection of guitars including an early 70s Gibson 335, Fender thinline tele and numerous strat types. Recently he's joined a working metal band as fron...
