Re: size of internal frame in TL 806

I marked the sheet when I built some back in the day, maybe it'll help?

As I recall, the frame parts not marked are 1"X 3", (actually 3/4" x 2.5"

Re: Center Block vs Brace on the baffle

Would they actually move differently in a closed cab? All the speakers move in unison, so they are either pulling a vacuum on excursion, or creating pressure, when the lower wave is produced.
I'm no engineer, but is seems to me the vacuum/pressure differential would be a wash.

Re: Chassis Lid for Ampeg Reverberocket

Your local "tinsmith" at a HVAC shop can fabricate something for you. I once had a guy fab an enclosure for an open chassis I wanted to experiment with, cost was minimal.

Re: Old Amp in New Cab

Thank you! If I don't have a new amp, it maybe looks like I do! Back in the day, when I worked downtown, we used to have a lot of old timer customers. One fellow was a cowboy from on the river, and whenever he brought his old (50's) truck in, it was a different color. My boss and I used to laugh to ...

Old Amp in New Cab

I picked up a Special 130 chassis a while back, and with little work it plays fine. I put together a cab for it, (not to be confused with the beautiful wood working many of you post)! It is just scrap ply and biscuits, I did try some "cane" type grill cloth, but when I got it, seems more like "burla...

Re: Heaters not twisted on Brand name amp!

I quit twisting my heater wires after obtaining a "94 Twin" chassis in a trade. Since then I have built 2 AB763, and 1 5E3 that are very quiet!

Re: DIY leather cabinet corners

Well, soon I'm about to see if the "screw nails" will come out easily! I decided to turn the enclosure shown above into an EV 3-way enclosure, (18", 10", and horn). Someone used an old Ampeg 412 cab to house them in, and it sure is awkward to move. The old bass bin has casters, and plenty of handles!

Re: Amplified Nation Tolex Tutorial

I think it helps to use thinner wood, here is one I did, seemed to be able to hide (most) of the flaws! Now if I could just get the corners round!

Re: DIY leather cabinet corners

I used to use "carpet screw" nails when trimming my PA cabs (they look like a rack case.) (Most are 1 1/4", but easy enough to cut to length). I bet they would work fine for the corners as well!

Re: Back panel for Deluxe Reverb

I have no science to quote, but I have been making the ovals the length of the speaker and 1/4 the width, it seems to work!

Re: Cabinet construction.

Interesting observations! Back in the 80's, we put together a country band, but were still using our R&R PA, with the 13 CF EV designed cabs. I was building a couple of 7 CF EV bass cabs in the garage, while listening to music through the old PA. I stuck my head in through the speaker opening to ins...

Re: Custom Logos!

I don't know anybody that does 3D printing, (maybe at the college).
My local sign guy will do that and decals, (and of course signs). He also is a guitar player!

I think so, he sold me 2 3D, and 1 plate for less than $50 shipped.

Custom Logos!

I found a guy on the bay who makes custom logos, (Vidiot72), both plate, and 3D printed. I installed a couple this weekend.
