Look at the Derailment. It's not exactly what you want but it's in the same ballpark.
Yes, I think the Derailment is close to what I am looking for.

Re: Anyone Wrecked a Vibrochamp?

there is a marshallized champ type thing called the BEAST.. you can find the info and sound clips on SEWATT and 18watt.com.. i think Mark Huss has some clips somewhere too. http://www.sewatt.com/node/13360 Thanks for the link. I will look around a bit more on SEWATT. The Beast is interesting but, b...

Re: Anyone Wrecked a Vibrochamp?

I should probably point out that my Vibrochamp is actually a Ceriatone kit that I had built, and it is in a pretty big combo cab with a Celestion G12H. (It is still a head cab style amp chassis though). I can switch for other 12" speakers that I have as well, or just use the head with a different sp...

Anyone Wrecked a Vibrochamp?

Hi, I have a BF Vibrochamp clone, and will likely try building an express or liverpool some day, but for now, I am wondering about using my vibrochamp's stuff to change it into something a bit more TW-ish. Has anyone had any thoughts on this before? These are my questions: Is there some sort of simp...

Sick!!!

I'm sure that my two sm-57s that I got on ebay about 6 months ago are both fakes. I suspected it at the time when I saw the lettering was a sticker. I tried the mic out originally as a vocal mic and was less than impressed with the sound, before using it exclusively for instrument miking. The link o...

Re: Closed back cabs for guitar

Alright. I really appreciate this. I will make a one-piece solid back, knowing that if some sort of porting is needed in the future, I can do the hole in the front Baffle with a tube going back (realizing it may be a lot of experimenting to find the right length to cut the tube). The great thing abo...

Re: Closed back cabs for guitar

Awesome! Thanks!
Do you ever play around with the complexities of porting? Or do you think that I would be ok if I make 2 back panels for the cab; one being 1/4 of the back and the other being 3/4 or the back and choosing whether to use one or both based on how it sounds?

Re: Closed back cabs for guitar

Using 3/4" birch Ply wood, I'm gonna stick my neck way out here and say......if you want light weight, and good tone, why not do the regular thing and use pine? I "think" I can hear the difference between a pine cab and a ply cab. The pine sounds SO much better in a guitar cabinet. YMMV Dan I've he...

Re: Closed back cabs for guitar

Thank you Casey, I appreciate you sharing your expertise. I think you have a good grasp of what I am trying to do. So, is there an optimum interior volume(space) that I should be sure to stay above? Using 3/4" birch Ply wood, I am thinking of matching the length of my combo amp, which is about 28 1/...

Re: Closed back cabs for guitar

hmm, ya, I am thinking about doing some sort of convertible back to figure out what I want. I kind of wish that porting was easy enough to add afterwards, but it sounds like a real science, and not just about cutting a hole in the back of the cab. The detuned cab sounds like a neat idea, that I have...

Closed back cabs for guitar

I've decided to build my own 2x12 closed back cab (I think). I am struggling over dimensions and whether I want porting or perhaps only a 3/4 back. This is actually a result of wanting a 2x12 cab for my old 100W Traynor Amp Head after having spare wood and Vinyl from building an open back combo amp ...

Re: Speaker combination with and Alnico Blue

Oh really? so you run them in series instead of parallel? I haven't tried that yet. I just figured I would want the tighter sound of parallel.

Re: Speaker combination with and Alnico Blue

Great guys! Thanks for all your help. This was most helpful. I haven't been here in a while but now I'm back. I did go ahead and choose a G12H to go with the blue and I am happy with it. My cabinet is almost finished to hold these with my amp that I built. While I wait for the cabinet I have played ...

Re: Speaker combination with and Alnico Blue

OK Thanks. I'll look into those. I'm not sure if I am understanding this correctly, but I get the idea about the overly mismatched wattages being bad in this case perhaps because it is a 30watt amp and if somehow the 15watt Blue ends up taking in more than half the power somehow if the speakers are ...
