Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
Yup, I keep changing my mind. I'm thinking I'd like to build it leaving space for a classic Fender 2-tube reverb before the loop. Sort of a future expansion idea after I've played the regular 102 circuit and can judge properly if the reverb circuit compromises anything by being added. May 11.jpg I'm...

Re: Can I Parallel 2 Mosfets in VVR?
They also need to be mounted right next to each other so that all wire length used is the shortest. So, this is the part that also makes me wonder if 2 parallel mosfets even buys any more wattage rating since they would have to be close enough to each other that they would end up sharing the same l...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
I'm leaning toward drawing out the full vision and going for the whole build at once, instead of the trial steps. (so I will do a more full conversion of the filtering, including add the choke). So I'm still refining that vision. I'm currently experimenting what it would look like to add reverb to t...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
Actually, during biasing the passive RET jack in bypass mode can be used to inject a signal straight into the PI and on to the power section. That's a way I've used it. The passive jacks are there so that you can SEND a raw unfiltered line out before processing it and returning it via the passive R...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
I'm just playing with my panel layout options in Paint based on the actual front and back panels and what sorts of holes they have.
I'm not sure, but maybe something like this: I want to build it without relays first, but I do want to make it possible to add OD and PAB relays later...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
Not sure if I'd ever need to switch it in or out mid-song, great question to consider if it's worth putting on a pedal. The relay was used primarily to keep the wire runs shorter. My goal was to keep it as close to 102 as possible when the Dumbleator was not in use. The possibility of putting it on...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
I've used the dumbleator in both my Skyliner and the Delta amps I've documented here. The cap values are a little different than standard for modified filtering but the basics are very similar. They don't have relay switching but that can be easily designed in. Check out the Delta (183) for the mat...

Re: ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
bcmatt I did a very similar build, if I were to put together a schematic of my build it would look nearly identical to what you pieced together. On mine the switch to select or bypass the Dumbleator is actually a relay. I did this mainly to avoid long signal wire runs to a switch. Where I was able ...

Re: Can I Parallel 2 Mosfets in VVR?
So, like this?FUCHSAUDIO wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 4:31 pm No reason you can't. I would add a 100 ohm series gate resistor on each, and also keep the 10 ohm source resistors on each, the input drain leads can simply tie to the same point.

ODS 102 with 2x KT88s and built-in Dumbleator
I'd like to convert another Traynor YGL-3a that I have to a #102 High-Plate Skyliner. It's already been modded a bit to take a couple KT88s. This is it currently: 20240504_140745.jpg YGL with KT88 screen VVR.jpg I'm first trying to theorize what a built-in Dumbleator in a #102 would look like and I ...

Can I Parallel 2 Mosfets in VVR?
So, this is the regular VVR I use in Cathode biased amps: VVR.jpg If power handling is a worry and I'm worried about that MosFET, can I just add a second MosFET in parallel? Like this?: Parallel MosFET VVR.jpg Do MosFETs work like that, or does that screw up the circuit? I imagine that the heat diss...

Re: Traynor Biasing Questions and Pulling 2 tubes
Pretty similar to ODS. A branch from B+2 before the VVR could be used to supply the D'lator... I guess that's what you're thinking, and that's a proven approach. Since I'm not really sure what model I should use for a 2x KT88 ODS power section. I'll start by making a schematic with the current powe...

Re: Traynor Biasing Questions and Pulling 2 tubes
Since this is going to be some sort of ODS conversion, I think it would be appropriate that I start a thread with my plan in the Dumble Discussion. This is beginning to become the wrong section for such talk.

Re: Traynor Biasing Questions and Pulling 2 tubes
I want to forget about adding reverb for now... but am still obsessing about trying to build in a Dumbleator. I am maybe redoing someone's work, but I haven't found it exactly... so I messed around with Paint to theorize how one would add a dumbleator to a 102 circuit: 102 with Dumbleator Theorized....
