In general, I don't worry about what other people do on this forum. In general, there is no need to. But you're 'special'. When a member is revealed as a liar and a thief, I feel like I should go out of my way to let EVERYONE know the situation just in case they are unaware of your history. I am do...

Re: Dumb question re: mounting PT
Where's the reasoned argument for this recommendation from Mercury? Without that, it's just somebody's personal preference. The cases where the transformer has torn out are doubtless due to a large g-load (aka droping the amp), especially when the transformer hangs under the chassis. For reinforcem...

Re: 3rd gen 50 Watt
If you have diodes in series it is a good idea to parallel a cap with each one to equalize the voltages. It's the same principle as the balancing resistors on the series connected reservoir caps. Nice looking build, there! Hi Martin, If Im not mistaken, since the Vf is so low ~.7V, it's not a probl...

Re: Sonny Landreth Live
Stratcat, Glad you liked the show! Sonny still amazes me everytime I get a chance to hear him. He has used the Demeter (TGA-2?) for years as his main workhorse, and no matter what he plays through, Dumble, Matchless, Twin or the Demeter, he still captures a great tone. Last time I saw him was in Nas...

Vibratoking, I"ll assume you were joking, since LINE 6 was not available back then, and DSP technology was non existent. Although the pic is a cool looking fake.vibratoking wrote:Love that Jimi pic. It's good to know that a Line 6 was his secret weapon.

Re: Sonny Landreth Live
Tom a few years ago in the Tonequest Report, Sonny talked about his amp in general, but mentioned his amp had 'tone controls' inside. So it's either an HRM or Bluesmaster. I tend to think it's an HRM based on the times I heard him live, up front, and close.

Re: HAD soldering technique on the back of pots
I pre-tinned each pot and used flux to increase the wetting of the braid. Teflon coax makes for a neat job.

Using too high a value of coupling caps or cathode caps can also cause motorboating. Recheck your values.

Hey Big Jim, I saw that same guy covered in Silver paint! Some other guy snuck up behind him and yelled, while the silver painted mime jumped out character and started chasing him down the street. That was more entertaining than the mime. Ya never know what you'll see in the Big Easy.
