Thanks for all the replies.
No more mojotones for me. I'll stick with the Vishays and Nichicons.
Anything that works well in the design of military switchmode power supply is good enough for a guitar amp.
As Dogears has said many times, ymmv

Re: Mojotone electrolytics in a Musicman RD-50
How big a voltage difference did you measure? And how much was DC versus ripple? Firestorm, I measured approx. an additional 10 volts of ripple higher w/ the mojotones compared to the original Mallorys at the B+, under approximately a 75% output load (~17 Vrms, w/8 Ohm load). The unloaded B+ was ap...

Re: Mojotone electrolytics in a Musicman RD-50
I forgot to mention,
1. I usually buy only Sprague or Nichicon Filter caps.
2. I had the same issue swapping out old electrolytics for mojo electrolytics, (same uF and V ratings), in a Twin Reverb.

Mojotone electrolytics in a Musicman RD-50
I changed out the stock electrolytics, 60uF/350V (2 each), and a 2uF/350V, to Mojotone caps at 100uF/350V, and 20uf/350V. The original caps are not noisy, and the B+, Screen and pre plates are higher than with the Mojos. I would have anticipated better performance with 100ufs. The size of the mojos ...

Bill Krichen is the old guy in the pic, anda great player. His guitar was featured in Dan Erlewine's guitar setup book.
Here' a pic of my most unique (odd) guitar, a 69 Musicraft Messenger. It's the same model Mark Farner of Grand Funk used to play.

Re: Sonny Landreth dumble on Treme ?
Sonny owns an HRM 50/100W w/ a tan cab, and usually plays thru his Bandmaster cab. Although he has performed with a Bludotone as well. Sonny could make a radio shack amp sound great.

Re: Reducing diameter of existing chassis hole?
I have filled chassis holes successfully using JB weld or a strong epoxy. Place a piece of packing tape taut (no dips or wrinkles) across the hole from the outside, then fill the hole from inside the chassis using JB weld or epoxy. Allow a small overlap of the fill to help adhere to the inside chass...

Re: line level reverb suggestion
Thanks Gil, Excellent suggestions. I'll need to fix the Fender reverb unit since it still distorts when using it between the guitar and amp too. A weekend project. I'll check out the Rocktron.
