Single-Parallel-Single switch to amp input

:) I am starting a a new amp project which is based on Plexi Marshall. I would like to have a switch in it`s input where I could pick either normal or bright input or both inputs in the same time. I do not want to use 4 input jacks and use a jumper to connect both inputs together. Does anybody know ...

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

I ended up to buy a Celestion Heritage Series G12-65 element. I will test it when I get that combo ready. It will take sometime to get it done due to summer vacation etc. I paid some 200 USD of that element. Harry

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

:D Now that is an interesting solution. Maybe I skip a combo model and build an Express to a small head cabin and a 1x12" closed back cabin. I already have one closed back cabin with G12H30 but for some reason its sound is not very impressive. I have already done one Liverpool to a pretty small head...

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

I have a single 12 with a Scumback M75 which is their G12M 25 watter clone. However I wanted this cab to be able to handle a fully cranked Express, so I got the M75 with the high power 65 watt cone that they also offer. Is this cab open or closed back? I think that it has a remarkable effect on sou...

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

:) It is a pity that all speakers you recommend for an open back Express amp are very hard to buy here in Finland. Maybe I have to start to check if I could order them (Weber or Scumback or Sammi) straight from states especially now when euro against dollar is pretty strong. Harry

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

Harry, The Weber Alnico Silver Bell is a little darker sounding than the Blue Dogs, or either of the Celestions. Like I said, I wanted that one to tame the high frequencies a little. Works perfectly, and it has all of the smooth distortion that alnicos are known for. Brad Do you have any idea if We...

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

I am planning to make a 1x12" open back Twreck Express combo with 6V6 tubes. I try to make a lightweight amp which is also physically as small as possible. I have tried 2 x Greenbacks in open back cabin but I did not like that sound. To my mind they are better in closed back cabins. Scumbacks are di...

Re: Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

:) Is this Weber Alnico Bell smilar to Celestion Blue or Gold? Because I live in Finland, Weber is not very common here. They are also very expensive because only one company brings them here. I get all models of Celestion and Eminence speakers easily with reasonable costs. I know how Express works ...

Best 12" speaker for a Trainwreck combo

I have built one Twreck head ans one Liverpool head and now planning to make one Express open back combo. To my mind Express sounds best with closed back cabin with at least 2x12" speakers. Now I would like to have an amp which is suitable for small gigs and should be lighweight. By now I have exper...

Re: 9 watt "Mini-D"

:D I have made one Express, one Liverpool and some other amps which have preamp ala Twreck Express. I like their sound very much and I have one project just going on with one preamp channel ala Express and the other one ala Twin. This amp has two pairs of power tubes; one pair EL90 and the other EL9...

Re: Express with Variable Voltage Regulator

:) I bought a VVR fixed bias kit from Dana to my Express but have not had time to install it yet. I am very interested in to see Dana`s solution for Express. I made one VVR with cathode bias configuration to one single ended small tube amp and scaled whole amp. It worked fine but I had to add one ca...

Re: Did Ken Fischer play guitar ???

It would be nice to know who this guitar player was and hear his stories of co developing Twreck amps. The more I get familiar with this forum the more I get interested in to understand Mr. Fisher and his life. It is very nice to have this kind of histories and persons and not only these faceless ch...

Re: Did Ken Fischer play guitar ???

:D Why I am asking this is because I do a lot tweaking with my amp projects just playing guitar and changing components by hearing. I have seen guys who are very well trained with electronics but cannot hear what sounds good and bad. I was wandering if Ken had a side player to test with him. Regards...

Did Ken Fischer play guitar ???

I have got impression that Ken was a guy who did a lot work to find the right tube combination to each Twreck he made. This means that he had to test each amp with different tube combinations. How did he do it? Did he play guitar himself or did he have a side guitarist testing how his amps sounded. ...
