Re: Too many components

There is Clean, crunch, gain, high gain. The topology of this amp comes from Engl Blackmore, but with a pair of 6L6GC and Kevin O'Connors GMX. :D There is also fixed / cathode bias and pentode / triode switches. -> Too much in a small chassis. I would never had been able to make this without great h...

Too many components

Just wanted to show what I made many years ago.

4 channels, almost impossible to make any service.

It actually sounds pretty good and there isn't any hum even though it's a mess. :D

Re: Peavey moves to China

Sad story.

I still have my first CS800 power amp in my PA rig and it has never failed me. Has worked for 25 years without any problems.

I bet new china models won't last half that long...

Re: Aluminum vs Steel chassis

Once I made a chassis out of stainless steel.

It was really hard to make all the holes with a drill...

Never again. :D

Re: Subminiature tube amplifier

I built Dana's Little Devil and it totally rips!
I have played with different tube setups and there is still a lot of experiments to be done. I love these little tubes.

Re: YOU ALL NEED TO CALM DOWN!

Four months without cigarette. I started at age of 16 and smoked camel and red marlboro for 25 years. It was like at least one pack a day. It can be done. I mean the smoking... :) I stopped smoking cold turkey and the first month was bad, but after that sort of managable. To stop smoking you need at...

Re: how to hack a car

I worked as a sw engineer and made embedded software for Nokia mobile phones for twelve years... Comparing to that these arduinos and strawberries are piece of cake to program. I got older much quicker than other people around me when I made symbian camera driver software.... :D Now that symbian is ...

I'm also glad that this is solved!

Have fun with the amp!

Re: Sub-miniature pentode with two plates question

Update! I finally got the tubes installed and first impression is wow!! :) So I installed a pair of 6P30B-R tubes to Lil'Devil and they sound really cool. Haven't yet time to fiddle with the bias but first impression is good. I just wired the two anodes together to achive all power from the tubes. W...

Re: Sub-miniature pentode with two plates question

Used google translator and translated some of the mystic cyrillic texts from the russian data sheet. I felt like translating the rosetta stone... :D In the data sheet the two anodes where named as Small and Large. No idea where those were needed but I guess there has been a secret plan to manufactur...

Re: Sub-miniature pentode with two plates question

... Anode current,A 0,027-0,043 ... Steepness,mA/V 3,4-5,5 These two sets of characteristics give a little clue. I would hazard a guess that the lower end of the plate current range is with 1 plate, and the upper end is with both plates connected (and the transconductance range tells a similar stor...

Re: Sub-miniature pentode with two plates question

I wonder if those values are for each plate or the pair. BTW the number of grids is irrelevant, it's just the number of elements minus the heater. Hexode it is then. :D I guess I just have to test and find out how it works. I'll let you know how it goes when I get there... BTW I found a datasheet f...
