Paul,
Swapping the relays might do more harm than good. I am afraid that un-soldering / re-soldering the wires might pull the pads of the relay boards. I may just go ahead and replace the boards and the relays together. Is anyone selling the relay boards these days?
Cheers, Mike

Re: Bad Relay?
Fx loop - I'll give that a try.
Cold solder joints? maybe. I can pull the board up and reflow these.
Great suggestions, thanks!

Bad Relay?
Hey All, I have a 183 version that I completed in 2009. Was as everyday user until about a year ago. I played through it last week and noticed a strong static sound when I played a note or chord hard. The head sits atop a 2x12 cabinet. It was loud enough and strong enough that I turned the amp off a...

Re: Relay Issue? Bluesmaster HRM
O.K. - finally pulled the chassis out. Pushed around various areas and nothing. Then, I tapped the top of the relay and it came in loud and clear. Can the relay 'stick' in one position? After that it switched normally.
Strange......

Re: Relay Issue? Bluesmaster HRM
O.K. - so changed V1 out. good suggestions. No change there.
It's funny, if I really strike a note hard it comes on a full volume.
Time to pull the chassis out and start poking around.

Relay Issue? Bluesmaster HRM
Hey All, I built a 100W Bluesmaster HRM is 2008. In the past few months the clean channel has exhibited a sharp drop in volume and distortion. The O.D. channel is fine. When switched, the clean channel is a whisper level changing only slight as the Master volume goes 1-10. If I hit a chord real hard...

Re: Master Volume in Effects Loop
TM,
That's just it. I built the Bluesmaster HRM. I have two Master Volumes. I would like to put a pot in the effects loop to have a MASTER Master Volume. (or is that Master^2?)
Cheers, Mike

Re: Master Volume in Effects Loop
Maybe to clarify. This is an HRM model. I would like to be able to balance the levels between the HRM and the clean channel, then use another volume (pedal, pot, etc) to set my overall level.

Re: Master Volume in Effects Loop
Bob,
Thanks - I'll try a volume pot (250) like the pedal. That's what I was looking for.

Master Volume in Effects Loop
Hey All, I would like to put a volume control between the effects out and in jacks. In this way I can set a 'balance' in volume levels between the Overdrive Volume and the Master Volume on the front panel then use the new control to adjust the amps overall volume. I'm sure this has been done before....

Marshall pre PI MV to Post PI
Hey All,
Is it worthwhile changing the pre P.I. Master Volume on my Marshall 2204 to a Post P.I.? This is a simple change but I was wondering if there would be enough tonal difference to make it worthwhile.
Any thoughts?
Cheers, Mike

Effects Loop Master Volume
Hey All,
I was thinking that I might make a little 'insert box' to plug into the preamp out / power amp in jacks with a 1M pot in between. Has anyone done this? Is there a drawing anywhere on this simple wire up?

Driving Power Tubes, How Much Input Level
Hey All, I've been researching ways to reduce the output volume level on an amp and have come up with a question. There seem to be three main ways to get overdrive from an amp. They are 1 - Attenuator on output, allows for preamp and power amp tube distortion 2 - VVR - Allows for preamp tube and / o...

Hey,
Try a 12AT7 in the V3 spot if there is a 12AX7 there now.
