Re: duane allman's marshall

I retain a certain amount of frustration over the issue of Allman's speakers. In the mid-70's I was hearing that they were the Altec 417-C speakers. Since then, I've heard JBL and Cerwin-Vega. Is there anything definitive? Who owns the cabs now -- Greg Allman, the Macon city dump?

Re: Classic-Tone Transformers fo AC30

Limited experience, but I have installed the MM Woden into a CC amp. If you can get it at the 25+ pricing, it's the way to go. I was surprised and the customer is still pleased.

Dollars to donuts a putting a switch for 1uF/25uF on the input cathode does it. Maybe 2uF if he's feeling sassy.
plug into the other input

Re: RIP Paul Revere

Hate to come off apocryphal, but this is the start...or maybe Jon Lord was. The next ten years will make us cry too often over a generation of guys and gals who took care of their livers well enough to get into their 70's intact.

Re: PIC Programming?

I use the CCS compiler which is ANSI C. I don't think they do a good job of explaining all their idiosyncratic crap needed to actually compile and make the thing work. // Generic include files. #include <18F6722.h> // Target device header file. #device adc=10 // Specifies that PIC A/D converter will...

Vox CC2 cutting out intermittently

I worked on this amp about a month ago. It cuts out with no sound when it's in the cabinet. It hasn't melted down the output. The owner and I have played it extensively with the guts pulled out and it doesn't cut out, so I figure it's vibration related. Any experience with this or better ideas? I'll...

Re: RoHS, CE-mark and touring

I have a warning which is about something that happened to a buddy of mine who wanted to motorcycle around the Isle Of Man. It was cheaper to ship his helmet and leathers to the hotel. The idiot at FedEx checked the boxes wrong and he ended up having to buy his gear back because they said he owed im...

You like these better than the foam now...hmm...solves the major grievance with the Webers. The cone + pointy thing is interesting too.

Re: how 'bout that Kate Bush ?

If you try, I bet we can come up with 10 female artists who basically were Kate Bush ripoffs (without really trying).

I'll start with:
Sinead O'Connor
Tori Amos

Re: Beam Blockers?

I have them in all my 1-12" amps/cabs. That works for me. There seems to be opinion that they don't work well in 4-12" cabinets, which have interesting phase patterns on their own. You can get the basic idea with a couple junk CDs/DVDs and scotch tape. I haven't ever tried them in a 2-12". If you th...

Re: Top Hat Club Royale gut shots posted

It's not a high gain amp, is it? I don't understand the use of RTV in this amp. Aged Fenders and Hiwatts don't have that and they seem to hold up fine, whether they live in closets or on the road.

Look at the bigger Fender 5e circuits, like the low power tweed twin and bandmaster.

Re: Talk me out of a 100 watt Hiwatt build.......

It does look brilliant. I know it's too late, but I always recommend that people build the 50W version, but get the faceplate for a 200....scare the crap out of the sound guys.
