Re: Fender Tweed Cover for 5E3 Cabinet
The best glue for tweed or tolex is Hide Glue. You should have no trouble finding it.

Re: Harmonica Amp Questions
There are a lot of misconceptions about what makes a good or great Harp amp. Yes, it should have a low or Olden times normal gain front end. The biggest factor to getting the Overdriven Harp tone is the Microphone ! and how it's cupped or sealed. Which overdrives the Element. This is why Bullet mics...

Re: 5e7 build - where to use carbon comp resistors?
I built a clone of the 5e7 bandmaster and used ALL Carbon Comp resistors just like the original 57 I cloned. There is no noise to speak of and it sounds awesome. Not bashing metal films or carbon films, just want to point out the noise is not an issue at all. Better to pay attention to lead dress an...

Re: What're you listening to right now??
I am well, Enjoying retirement. But I still seem to be working on amps! But only vintage ones now ;-). Been gigging more too ! Just rebuilt and modded an old HH Scott hifi tube integrated, 233. Came out really good. Now that was fun. Gigged with my old Gibson 79RVT last night. The Tremolo is almost ...

They look like 100k to me. He did increase the coupling cap to the phase invertor.

What about a bucking transformer. Solve all your high voltage issues.

Re: Cap job I did on a Bogner Shiva recently
I apologize again. Now I am embarrassed even. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I should not second guess your decision. Farty sounding. I would have first tested the tubes, even substituted and biased first. Crappy speakers can get farty. Too large of a coupling cap can be farty. As a tech who ...

Re: AB165 Longhorn Mod and other questions
I did not see your post . I retired last year and have not been too active on this forum. I do have a few refinements . The lead dress is critical especially on the normal channel after the mod. Definitely use a 500pf coupling cap to the phase invertor. I prefer polystyrene but use what you got. I'l...

Re: Did my 1st re-cone
Congratulations on your recone.
Kapton, nomex and paper all sound a bit different.
I usually prefer paper even though the ability to dissipate heat is the lowest of the three.

Re: Cap job I did on a Bogner Shiva recently
It really bothers me that this passes for amp tech work.
No diagnosis, no testing, waste of time and money.
I am glad I retired , too many wanna be techs .
And please tune your guitar.

Re: Fender Vibro King reverb problem
I just wanted to point out Zinky ran the Poor little el84 freakishly hard and they don't survive. Since you've already converted it to an octal socket and 6v6. you could try the JJ 6v6s which is known to handle those voltages better. But you may still have tube rattle issues and will need to select ...

What is the plate voltage? The schematic shows 470vdc on the Z node.
