Re: New HRM build
Thanks for sharing ic-racer. I really like those tones. I've been planning on doing this HRM build for a while, but your comments yesterday about it sounding 'just average' kind of took the wind out of my sail. Earlier in the thread you said 'Wow, the clean channel is the best on any amp I have ever...

Re: Vintage CTS Pot Question From a Plexi Marshall
Thanks for the replies. I had to give it go. The pot, as it was, was not working properly so I had nothing to lose. Having made my original post I did some thinking and realised that the only thing that would have been moved on the pot (apart from ware!) would be the lugs. The middle (brass) one in ...

Vintage CTS Pot Question From a Plexi Marshall
I've been trying to trouble shoot a '69 Plexi Marshall, that has been producing scratchy frying bacon sounds and after re-flowing the solder on the volume pot noticed that it improved it a great deal. However, it wasn't the new solder that helped, it was the pressure on the middle lug of the pot tha...

Re: DPDT Push/Pull Pots source
Thanks for all the responses. I've gone with the 16mm Bourns push/pull switches and it works well for my needs. The sweep has a reasonable amount of resistance, so it compares favorably to the 24mm pots in feel. Hard to tell if it sounds any different in the mid pot position, especially as I've chan...

Re: DPDT Push/Pull Pots source
Thanks for the replies. I will probably go for the 16mm pots, but I wanted to check that I wasn't missing anything. I like the idea of the relay controler.
Thanks again.
Cheers, Paul.

DPDT Push/Pull Pots source
I'm trying to find a DPDT Push/Pull pot for my most recent build, but ideally I want it to be 24mm , which used to be available but I'm having no luck trying to find a source, rather than the 16mm. It needs to be 250K or more. I'll be using it in the tone stack of an ODS build. Any recommendations w...

Thanks statorvane,That may be where your bacon is getting fried. I'd dump those sockets (option b), they are only going to deteriorate further, and replace them with some new ones.

Re: Seeking advice for Plexi revalve (update)
Just received the E34L valves from my supplier and noticed that one of the sockets came apart as I took the old valve out. As you can see from the attached photo someone has epoxied the bakerlite part to the metal, but now that the epoxy is old, it has cracked and is allowing the bakerlite to fall t...

To check whether you have a relay issue just swap it with the PAB relay.

Seeking advice for Plexi revalve (update)
A friend of mine has been pestering me to revalve his 60's 50W Plexi for some time and so far I've resisted because most of my amp building experience revolves around Dumble clones and old Fender amps and I don't want to do anything that would undermine the mojo of this amp. The amp is sounding a bi...
