Re: Dumble ODS 102 build
This is a really simple and effective way to find the outer foil of your caps. Sometimes the difference is subtle, so I prefer using a DMM or scope to get a quantitative measurement. That is true Martin. But worth a try before buying a scope. If my memory serves me correctly, most of the preamp sig...

Re: BM OD low level
It’s worth remembering that the OD of a BM is traditionally used in conjunction with PAB. If OD+PAD is lacking in volume, then yes, you have an issue, but it’s normal for a BM OD without PAB engaged to be lower volume.
I hope that helps.

Re: Transformer problem Dumble 50
Hi, I believe at one point (possibly still) inmadout https://www.inmadout.com/contact.asp made/makes transformers for tubetown. I custom ordered one directly, with spec’d voltages and was really pleasantly surprised at how good and accurate the voltages were. It made the build a dream amp. Good luck...

Re: Dumble Ripper layout
I would start here and follow the layout on the pics C.W gave us Ripper Version 2 (1).pdf BTW. You could also set up V2/ CF like this which is consistent with Dumble's "high gain mod" 189 CF.pdf Very nice work on the layout. Tony Hi Tony, I hope you are well! I'm in the process of starting a Ripper...

Re: Hey Robben, where's your Dumble?
Robben talks about why he has started using the LW amps in this episode of Guitar Wank. It’s always interesting to listen to Robben but if you want to jump to the amp discussion part, it’s from about 23minutes. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/guitarwank/id1076152868?i=1000517928089 Pretty much...

Re: I'm in trouble with this sound
Hi Dariez, I had a similar problem with one of my new build amps. I went through everything to try to fix it and was almost ready to put it in the trash. However, 2 things were causing the issue. Apologies if they have been mentioned already. 1, Switchcraft switching jacks which had a bit of dirt in...

Re: Reprise NOS Old Dale RN65D vs NEW Dale RN65D
Apologies for being late to the party, but thank you Erwin for doing all of this, and for such great playing/tones. Damn it man, you just keep getting better  Having listened to the samples myself, on a modest studio setup, there are distinct differences in the two samples. Most clearly in the...

Re: #183 Build 50w
Wow, that is a thing of beauty - well done! I've always wanted to do a 50W #183, but have always wondered what to do about the trannies. As the original #183 used out of spec Twin iron running a quad of EL34's, surely if you did a 50W version you would have to factor in the out of 'specness', to ge...

Re: Pics of "183
Oddvar R, As others have mentioned, you really need to sort out the polarity of your filter caps, particularly the F&T's. They will explode spectacularly if you keep them as they are! Also, as much as we all have opinions on components choice etc, the one thing I think we all agree on, that is cruci...

Re: V1b conection?
Thanks a lot for this. I must admit this build is a difficult one for me. I juggle between two different layouts, and they are not entirely the same ones. I'd definitely recommend working with the schematic in conjunction with the layout. That way you can get confirmation of any queries you have ab...

Re: Audio clip of my 2nd gen ODS
Really, really nice tones there Marcus! Obviously, having your fingers helps.....excellent playing!
Did you put a MV on OD in your 2nd Gen, as with the hybrid?
Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: #124 Questions
It's worth being aware that UK (and elsewhere) mains can be quite variable (+/- 10%), depending on where you live also, eg. city or countryside. Ours is 245V quite often. If you set it to 220V then you are going over by a good bit, particularly once it has been rectified. Check your mains supply on ...

Re: Starting a Bluesmaster 100 HRM
So the amp doesn’t sound as dirty as I expected. Even the Overdrive channel is fairly clean unless I flip up the rock switch. Only the normal input works and not the FET. Here’s a couple finished photos and some voltages. B+ 454v 1 454v 2 452v 3 431v 4 318v 5 311v 6l6 plates 456v V1: pin 1 202v pin...

Hi jfs322, This is a schematic of an actual 90's HRM w/EL34, observed by ic-racer, so it is well documented and has everything you need. https://ampgarage.com/forum/files/ods_102_hrm_158.pdf Follow his build here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9772&hilit=new+hrm+build I see that a ...
