Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Thanks Ditdah. I prefer smaller cabs since I don't have alot of room. The dimension ratio of my cabinet is about the same proportions of a real wreck. Structo, Datak has word sets, not just letters. They have words for audio/video, ham radio, test equipment. Power, treble, bass, mid, input, output, ...

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Ron, They are the Datak brand, 12 point I believe. It's hard to find a supplier for these. I bought mine a few years back from partsexpress.com, but they don't carry them anymore. There are some here http://www.minute-man.com/acatalog/Titles___Label_Sets_Data_Mark_Series_.html , but it appears they ...

Dry transfer with a few coats of Deft satin lacquer. I works very well. Here's another example...Ron Worley wrote:Ken, what did you use to label your faceplate?

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Thanks guys. The cab is made from baltic birch plywood with anigre flamed veneer. The front is African padauk (3/4" for the top, 1/8" for the faceplate). I don't have any plans for the cab, just used Dana's numbers but added 1/2" to the height and depth - 7" x 7" x 13-1/2". The control on the back i...

Re: Supplier for 1/16" thick wood for faceplate
Do you guys have any suggestions for safely drilling the pot and switch holes in thin wood? So that you don't end up spitting it or ruining it? Like a favorite style bit and method for the task? Drill press and forstner bits make clean holes. Be sure to use a scrap piece of wood under the faceplate...

Re: Faceplate Wood
I just checked Woodcraft and they have cherry, maple, mahogany and walnut in 1/16"x3"x24". Prices vary between $6~$7 a piece. Regards, Steve They have a lot more to choose from than what's listed on their website. I've seen lacewood, brazilian rosewood, teak, canary, walnut, purpleheart, bloodwood,...

Re: Supplier for 1/16" thick wood for faceplate
Rockler and Woodcraft have 1/16", 1/8", 1/4" in various exotic woods. I just picked up 1/8" piece of padauk (3" x 24") for about $10. I believe I've seen cocobolo before at Woodcraft. Woodcraft has a better selection than Rockler - at least in my stores.

Re: Wood for cab
My favorite finish is natural Watco followed by laquer or sometimes wax. But, on Padauk I find that Watco darkens it too much - and it does look too muddy. I actually like the orangeish color. I did these speakers with just Deft satin laquer... [img:480:640]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/kec...

Wow Glen! I think even Rev. Billy would dig that tone.
