Re: Anyone making their own guitar cables??
Why Low Capacitance? 1. The higher the capacitance of a cable, the less highs reach the amplifier. 2. High-capacitance cables shift the resonance towards the lower frequencies which dramatically alters tone. For example, Jimi Hendrix used a coiled cord with 3,000 picofarads (.003 microfarads), shif...

I like Bill Lawrence cables. Many don't like skinny cables, but I like 'em. Made in the good 'ol US of A. George L's made in???

Welcome marranbarran! I have a Class 5 that I installed a VVR in. You can also use the headphone trick to attenuate the output. http://www.marshallvintagemodern.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3794 Here's my C5... Re: Watts Audio
I can't get a chassis or cut to specific size board from Mouser, Digikey, Alllied etc., that's why I buy as much as I can from Ken. I patronize a vendor based on the total value added, not just on price. The Walmart shopper mentality is one of the main reasons why the little guys are ceasing to exi...

Re: De-solder tools
I've been using the black (ESD) version of what the OP has. Got it from my previous job (don't know the brand). No problems with it at all - just an occasional cleaning. Tip is teflon too.

Re: Using a Variac on speakers - a quiet idea
Why not just use a waveform generator and an amplifier? That's what I do. I set the frequency to a low setting so I get cone movement (maybe an 1/8" or so for a 12"). You get very little noise (if any at all), depending where you set the frequency and waveform pattern. The amp can be anything - I us...

Re: Dwarf Tube Rocket Amp
Finally got around to stuffing the board. I'm using the machined sockets (just like the 'Lil Devil) mounted on the board using some epoxy (JB Weld).
