Re: Help identify this tubes...
Both seem ok, holding up for 10 playhours now. I don't have a tube tester, but mu factor seems right on par with new tubes. I measure all corresponding voltages every hour or so: all ok with no drift. David: yeah, I think I'm hooked  Since I don't have the money to shell out 100 bucks for one...

Re: Help identify this tubes...
Thanx! That was very helpfull! I never really bought into that NOS tube hype, but did not have the opportunity to try some out myself. But, dammit, they sound better!!! These are pulls from a beat-to-death silverface Fender combo, the only tubes left intact :( I tryed them in a Marshall JCM800 build...

Help identify this tubes...
Hi all! Here's one for you tube experts out there: I happened upon this two old tubes and like to have some more info on them. the first is pretty easy: a Mullard ECC83 :D but what type exactly and when was it made? On the back is printed a code: 163 B7J5 the second only says USA 7025 on it. So it's...

Re: companion speaker for coffe-can SRO?
I use a Wgs Blackhawk HP (which is said to be a Sro clone) with a Wgs ET65 in a D-Style 2x12". Killer combi with lotsa chewy mids. It fits very nicely in the mix.

Re: new build #40 - question about 180k resistor in OD section
When no signal is present, the cathode sits at a low positive voltage (1-2 Volts). Shouldn't do much, though.
For signals the cathode is at AC ground for all but very low frequencies. I would correct it anyway, just to have it correct.
Greetings,
Timo

Re: Upcoming Bluesmaster build - some questions...
Thanx for your input! If anyone's interested: my experience with various primary impedances and tubes is this: generally higher imp makes the poweramp more dynamic to a degree. Different tube types have different optima, as far as max power output before clipping is concerned. This is what I found (...

Re: Upcoming Bluesmaster build - some questions...
My 50w Shinrock has 3500 Ohms primary impedance and is a clone of a '68 Drake OT, AFAIK.
I'm mainly asking Marshall or Fender, because I couldn't find info on what the original used.
It isn't noted on Talbany's great layout, or have I missed something?

Re: Upcoming Bluesmaster build - some questions...
Thanx so far, I wonder if the Tube-Town.de branded iron are made by inmadout... They look similar... I think I'll go with Marshall style OT unless someone recommends Fender. I think a Marshall OT should match the Bluesmaster PI. Another qestion: are there any gutshots of original Dumble Bluesmaster ...

Upcoming Bluesmaster build - some questions...
Hi all, I'm just getting my heads together for a 50w Bluesmaster build and have some questions I hope somebody in the know can answer me: - is the Treble pot really log taper? Wouldn't a linear taper be more even in response? When I hack the Bluesmaster values in the Tonestack calculator I find the ...

Re: Ruby Gold caps?
Hi!
These are caps made by F&T for Ruby. Same as the TAD gold caps. I just don't know if they ae the same as the normal F&T caps. But I guess so, cause they have the same dimensions.
Very good qualit caps whatever!
Cheers,
Timo

Re: Any experience with faux suede?
I'd be happy to sell you the real stuff if you are interested. Thanks, but I'm in Germany across the pond. There are plenty of sued sources here, but it's expensive (and rightly so) so I'm gonna stick to tolex for now  gotta be carefull with that glue... I just hpoe I save some folks the was...

Re: Any experience with faux suede?
No one? Well, in the meantime I ordered some samples and tried it: Just forget it! It is faux and looks like it, no matter what. Especially on the corners the fabric beneath shows through. And it's a major pita to work with, you got to be really careful not to get any glue on the surface. I'll stick...

Re: Beam Blockers?
These work great for me at rehearsal and gigs:

The asked price is outrageous, though! So I built a reasonable clone of thin plywood which works just as well.
Looks ugly so I'm gonna try and build some of transpex

Any experience with faux suede?
Hi guys, I plan on building a headcab for my newest D-Style amp and thought it would be cool to cover it in suede. Now the prices of genuine suede are a bit too much, so I'd rather use faux suede / alcantara. It's made of polyester with a cotton webbing back, much like tolex. Has anyone experience w...
