Re: Upgrading a GA15 Harley Benton

Yeah that's true but you can try the 10" Ramrod 75W 100dB and the 10" Red Fang 50W 102dB.

Re: Upgrading a GA15 Harley Benton

Probably yes. Hi, Yes it's true, running power tubes with less voltage get down power with more class A sound result, but in the same time the sensitivity of your new speaker is not particulary high. Thanks for quick answer. In a few words, what can I do to get more power? regards, Adam. Change for ...

Re: Upgrading a GA15 Harley Benton

Hi ! Here is how I upgraded a friend GA15. It's here. Hi, I'm new on board. Thanks for the modification. I did it this weekend and the GA15 sounds great, I changed also tubes and speaker for Eminence Legend 1058 but i feel it was louder before modification. Can that be true? best regards, Adam. Hi,...

Re: Transformer choices?

To define the technical data of a transformer must take few measures and make some fairly simple calculations. In our case, we already know the nominal output voltage. By far, I noted two other elements, the open circuit voltage (no consumption), and the impedance of the windings. It allows me to ca...

Re: Transformer choices?

Hi Mark, I must apologize to you. Rereading my post I realized how insensitive I was. You're welcome, and I will try as much as possible to answer your questions. But this case is that it is possible for some and in some cases to save on the price of the transformer. It seemed that it might interest...

Re: Transformer choices?

Mikka, I am sorry to burst your bubble on this mass conspiracy of copper waste, but your theory doesn't hold true I am afraid. Ok, but then explain me why my tranny does'nt toast while it supplies two EL84 since November 2010 and I use this amp three times by week in rehearsal and on stage ? You ar...

Re: Transformer choices?

Incidentally, before silicon rectifiers were available, consider that a FWB arrangement would have required two additional and costly vacuum rectifiers, the additional volume, the associated hardware, wiring, and heat rejection, plus the additional 4-6A of heater current from the power transformer ...

Re: Transformer choices?

Anyway my amp with 13W EL84 push-pull works very well since the beginning of November 2010 with a transformer Hammond 369GX given by the manufacturer to 50VA with a secondary high voltage center tap given to 32.5 VA. I mean, I do not increase the power of the transformer in itself but I double the a...

Re: Transformer choices?

You probably don't take time to read my thread that I put the link. You think wrong because you approch the problem by the bad side. The tranny power is first influence by its impedance because U = ZI what is the element that sets the rate regulation expressed as a percentage. The CT doubles the HV ...

Re: Transformer choices?

How much extra wire is involved in a centre tap? Twice ! What exactly were you proposing? It's very simple, when manufacturing a transformer CT is used twice as much copper as a single coil. Finally a CT transformer for a given power is designed as twice rating power than a non CT transfomer schedu...
