Re: Mic amps compressors and other kits
Ill send you a few schematics I've got a Manley and a custom EMI mastering board. They are super simple it's all about top quality parts. You can custom design a cover at front panel express and after it's built take measurements and have a machine shop build a body. Shouldn't be more than a few hun...

Re: Mic amps compressors and other kits
Really? Which version of the bus comp did you build? The version I purchased had over 30 glitches. I had to pull the buss comp out of my console and trace through part of it and build a new part of the board to get it to finally work. It needed grounding improvements and overall sounded about 85% as...

Re: Acoustic Guitar Luthier Type Question
My experience is shimming is not the correct way to do it. As you stated you will be decoupling the strings from the body thus dampening the sustain. The proper way would be the use of a higher nut. The j200 series is a low action guitar if you want a more heavy playing acoustic try a guild or even ...

Re: Bass amp crash course
This has been done by alembic. Slightly modified fender showman preamp with an output transformer. Multiple outs pre or post OT. Then feed a solid state amp. It's a great pre (pre) OT. You will have to becareful to not overdrive the solid state amps input when the pre is pushed to limiting. Other th...

Re: TW Liverpool - with much respect for KEN FISHER
If you have played a bunch of amps you should sit down with your amp tech. Explain what you liked and disliked and have him build you a truly custom amp. The TW circuit isn't really modifiable like say a fender or Marshall. Have you played a TW or did you hear it was the holy grail? Basically everyt...

What you are searching for is drake iron. That is the golden iron of Marshall.
It can still be found in UK for about the cost of specialty iron.

Re: Buzzing first minute or so, Laney VH100R
Congratulations To avoid this in the future give the amp time to cool before you move it. It most likely happened after a quick gear pull the head was set down hard while hot. If possible give the amp 5-10 minutes to breathe before you move it. This will also help increase tube life. Start with the ...

Anyone have the list of tubes?
I've got $$$ and the Amplitrex is hungry to test tubes.

Re: Buzzing first minute or so, Laney VH100R
If the problem goes away... has the amp been dropped, moved while hot, driven around or shipped roughly recently? These are usually signs of a cold solder point as the voltage heats up the joint it flows and makes connection. I'm rather doubtful it's tube related unless it's at a socket. tubes once ...
