Re: Benson Monarch

Just so happen to have the non-reverb Monarch.

The driver circuitry to the power tubes is totally different.
Something that I've never seen before.

Mine's got a blown dropping resistor in the power supply.
Anyone knows what the expected B+ voltages are ???

Re: Fender Evil Twin modified to #102.

Thanks, D. The real thing sounds better than on video and my chops aren't up to scratch.. IC-racer, Problem with the Evil Twins is that they r LOUD. The amp became controllable once I stuck a 250kA volume pot in the FX loop. When I did that, I was able to crank the preamp end up and it sounded bette...

Re: Fender Evil Twin modified to #102.

It's a mate's amp.

I always thought it was worthy of being modified.
Looking at the schematics, it had the right signal path for a clone with pseudo dumbleator and reverb to boot.

Yes I did see the threads on the Super Twin.

Re: Two rock differences

There was also a non-production TR which was called the Tone Dog. Think only 5 ever made. One of them is sitting in front of me.

Re: Another 102 build.

1st stage adds too much noise, that's why I went metal film. That's where your guitar signal is weakest and thus your SNR suffers. I think the slope benefits from metal film for clean tone. I had one clone that had metal films all round everywhere when I first started. It was fantastic on clean - yo...

102 build

That's the CEpedals chassis and AGBamplifiers boards.

And no I don't use countersunk screws. The cab has about 1/8" extra for tolex covering and screws.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Just pointing out to the effect of the power amp bias.

Re: HAD's choice of bias on 6L6 in ODS

I came to that conclusion too. And its starting to make alot of sense to me actually. I recently built a #102 clone. I was short of the FET transistor and did not install the FET board but still fired it up anyway. The plate voltage on the 6L6 was about 490V and was biased a little bit on the cold s...

HAD's choice of bias on 6L6 in ODS

Hi,

Just want to start a discussion on HAD's choice of biasing at lower current than the usual 70% dissipation. It's interesting.

Re: Another 102 build.

This post was accidentally started in the wrong forum, so mods do forgive me for my mistake.

Thanks oldepicker (hope it's not the nose you're picking).

6V6 would be nice. What PT would you be using? What voltage was on the plates on that rare Dumble that had 6V6?
