Re: What should I build?!?
It is impossible to know a person's wants and likes without more information. Also, your post demonstrates how differently one individual's idea can be different from another's. You say 50W or less, not too loud. I think 50W is really loud. So, where does that leave us in terms of helping you? I sug...

Re: Broken 5E3 for sale locally - worth checking out?
That price is ridiculous. You can buy a quality kit new for that price. Of course, that's no speaker and no cabinet. Still, buying someone else's problems for that price? You should pass or offer $250.

Re: Yet Another Two Stroke build
Ah, thank you. So when they say 7000K primary/4,8 ohm secondary, that's not actually correct, as it's 7000K to 8ohms, and 3500K to 4ohms.... That explains some of the things in Dave's book that weren't clear, like why you might want to plug an 8ohm speaker into the 4ohm secondary when you run a 6V6...

Re: Need help tweeking a schematic for 6k6 amp
You didn't say what you'd like to see for plate voltage on the 6K6's. Instead of the 325-0-325 PT, I might go down to 275-0-275. I didn't do any calculations, so this is a SWAG. There isn't that much difference between 6V6 and 6K6. Aside from the choice of PT, I'd probably build it as shown.

Max,
Even if that were so, you are probably invisible. I know I am.

Re: PSA Hammond transformer blowout
I'm reasonably sure most of us have a story like that. My rule of thumb on eBay is don't spend more than you are willing to lose. I keep my expectations low. I'm generally well rewarded. I had one incident where "my package" was delivered (supposedly) in San Francisco. I live in Baltimore. Details n...

Re: Speaker Cabinet Handle Screws
T-nuts have their place. In general, I'm not particularly fond of using them. In harder woods, I find the spikes bend over too easily rather than driving into the wood. They are fine for pine and plywood. I've grown to prefer threaded inserts over T-nuts. In any case, without a compelling reason or ...

Re: Speaker Cabinet Handle Screws
What is the objection to a through hole so you can use a washer and nut on the inside? That will be sure to hold the weight. If the screws are too long, they can be sawed off. This is simplest, least expensive, and sure to work as desired.

Re: Drilling holes prior to covering in Tolex?
Haven't done it yet but plan to soon. I'll drill then use an old tip on my soldering iron, then keep the (probably ruined) tip for future plastic melting tasks. If I miss any holes I'll melt one with the soldering iron prior to drilling. You may be overthinking this. I'd just puncture the vinyl to ...

Not your question...it looks like you can use some basic help on how to solder. Attached has an excellent tutorial. Some of those solders are fine, others need to be redone. Also, clean off the flux with 90% isopropyl alcohol with a rag or q-tip. Thanks for the tip, im working on it this is my firs...
