Re: To Simul-Class or not, that is the question.
Just to be safe, I unsoldered the b+ connection for the reverb transformer. Still on the fence if I should leave the amp wired for simul-class or wire the two outer tubes to Pentode and use the existing switch as a 60/100 watt selector. Pros? Cons? Love to hear your thoughts. Or just stop messing wi...

Re: To Simul-Class or not, that is the question.
Do not pull the driver tube which will kick up the heater voltage on all the other tubes, just kill the B+ to the driver transformer if you feel you need to do anything or full unplug the tank and or just leave the darn reverb control pot at zero! It has 5 pre's and 4 power tubes. Pulling 1 pre-amp...

Re: To Simul-Class or not, that is the question.
It is a four tube model. Currently 2-6L6's and 2-E:34's
Question on the Reverb: I there are two Caps that Isolate the B+ from ground when the tube is pulled out, how can it cause damage? What am I missing. I am still learning everyday. Thanks again gents!

To Simul-Class or not, that is the question.
Hello all, I have been away from this forum for a while. I just got a 1988 Mesa MKIII Blue stripe and I already performed the "+" mods on it. C30 to 1000pf, C27 to 20pf. But, I noticed at another forum the proof that the OT primary just has extra wires coming out of it, but they are not tapped. That...

Re: Jim kelly single channel layout ?
Hello Gents. I would like to build a 2-6V6 non-reverb version of this amp. Anyone have a Schematic that would help? I have the original Kelley one and the Ampeg. Anyone draw one they would like to share?

Re: Muchless Spit Build
fusionbear: nice job and it sounds awesome! from your pictures on your version of the PPMIV I don't see the usual 2M resistors across the lugs, how did you wire that up? I see lug 1 to ground and ?? I want to build a Spitfire and maybe add an EF86 channel and employ your MV I also listening to your...

Re: Half a Major Build
Nice!! Thanks for sharing How does it compare to the 200watt original monster sound wise It has the tone without the bone crushing loudness. But if I were building one for myself, I would do the 4 KT88 version but with the lower 560 or so B+ just to get the full effect.... That's a good idea. How m...

Re: Half a Major Build
Nice neat wiring, I like how you did the heaters :). Sounds great db Merlin Blencowe style. I do that with all my amps now... Interesting, have you noticed a reduction in heater hum compared to the loop around the socket wiring used in old Marshalls? Thanks, David It is very slight, but my amps are...

Yep... that set.martin manning wrote:Very neat, and good idea to use the Dynaclone transformer set. BTW, which model Classic Tone transformers did you use? A-431S OT and P-782S PT?
If it's a half-Major, I guess you have to call it a Warrant Officer?

Half a Major Build
Someone commissioned this from me and I forgot to post it. It also had a switchable 1 wire cascade mod. I used the Classictone/Dynaco Clone PT and OT to give about 565+ on the plates of the two KT88's. [img:3264:2448]http://i.imgur.com/9nzahbK.jpg[/img] [img:3264:2448]http://i.imgur.com/Gup41iS.jpg[...
