Re: Available, another vintage variant of the Stancor A-3801 OT?
Looks like it's similar in size to a A-3801 though it doesn't appear to have the unique 3 layer core that is unique to these. that's the butt stacking of the laminations in 3 distinct sections in a 3801. this hallodarson transformer looks more like a radiospares stack with regard to number lams sta...

Re: SD60 build completed! Clip...
for those interested in iron, the wind pattern of the naylor output is pretty close to the concorde/komet iron. the concorde set would be the one to choose since the 4.8k pri is closer to the 4.3k of the naylor. the power trannie will put you right in the same 490-500v range. and of course i have a ...

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
Question: What does the switch do after the treble pot between the 560K's? (Between V2 and V3?) it just changes the effective value/taper of the treble pot--already lowered with 1 560k and then lowered once more by switching in the 2nd 560k. as you can tell, those guys bought 500k's in bulk and use...

Re: Trainwreck PT and OT originals. I have em!
i'm pretty sure bruno uses pacific, as i have seen their stickers on a cowtipper i believe. i think they may have made the komet 60 stuff as well, given the look and the buttstacking of the lams (ala the 3801/express style stack and wind). i have ( and still have) all the 3 different labeled specime...

Re: Values?
Hi Rhinson, What values do you recommend on the grid stoppers? Decko given that there's a 100pf rolloff cap on the input, you probably don't need any----just have to try to taste and see what makes sense for you in combo with the cap. i'd do maybe 10k -33k and see if you like it better with or with...

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
that's the post '96 version. the pre '96 version does not have grid stoppers. it connects the sheild to the plate and and makes use of the multipling factor of the miller capacitance to get a pretty decent top end roll off on the first stage. rhcbass wrote:This one looks like it does

Re: The underground 30 is different how? Gut pics inside.
I made the mistake of buying one of these a few years ago. I was not blown away and it's been sitting in the basement of my store ever since. It's on my list of amps to trace and make a schematic for. Also some dumb ass modded the polarity switch into a half power switch and I think they didn't swi...

Re: The underground 30 is different how? Gut pics inside.
the basic gain stage/p.i. pre is the same as a regular ac30 topboost. the reverb is the standard fender standalone type wedged in from the front end, using an el84 (instead of 6v6/6k6) to drive the tank. in terms of topography, not sure how/where it's combined back in with the dry signal. also looks...

Re: bruno cowtipper schematic
here's my buddies cowtipper. as stated before, he uses pacific transformers. also the reverb tone control is the one from the dave funk book, essentially tacking in the 6g15 tone control; and a treble cap "boost" sw.---ala diaz, dumble, etc. rh
