So um....a blast from the past.
Here it is, more than 10 year later, and I've finally bought my own laser engraver....
I'm sure there's other guys doing this already, but if I can find my old files, I'm going to try and pick up where I left off!

What AWG wire?
I've been away from amp building for several years. I'm stocking up on some parts to build/finish some projects this winter. I found a wire I really like for two channel listening, and I want to try it in an amp build.
What gauge wire should I stock up on for general purpose amp building?

Re: 6v6 for 50-something Alamo
Hmm, I have two Alamos, Capri and Challenger. I'm looking at the Capri schem and I think I have the Challenger schem somewhere. Point is I thought many Alamo schems were available though the early models like the 3 would be hardest to find. Lest anyone forget, this VG article may be the only source...

Re: 6v6 for 50-something Alamo
Unfortunately I did not make a layout yet. I had some health issues, and moved into a new house! So it's been sitting in storage since then. Hope you're felling better and getting settled into the new home. I've been going through much the same the last few years - both health issues and moving. Mi...

Re: 6v6 for 50-something Alamo
I know that this is an old thread, but I'm interested in the #3 schematic. Did you ever get around to making a sketch of yours? Thanks. Jack Hey Jack, Unfortunately I did not make a layout yet. I had some health issues, and moved into a new house! So it's been sitting in storage since then. Right a...

Re: Cab carpenters show your stuff
There was a cabinet someone posted here that I've been trying to find a photo of. I think it was a 2X12 cab with a light colored box, and a darker wood valence on the front. I thought it was a great example of what I want to do with my Magnatone cabinet that needs to be rebuilt.

Re: Trainwreck tube options
JJ 6V6 can handle the beating. I used them in a couple Super Reverbs and Express for a couple years of casual play.apache wrote:Thanks for the replies, I'll have a go with my El34s when i finish the amp.

Re: Gravity Picks
I got a couple of the .75 picks, and he threw in a thick one for free. I was suprised by how much the .75 flex, and how smoothly the thick pick plays. With the typical fender 351 celluloid, I can play medium or heavy, or even thin if it's strumming on an acoustic. I think with the Gravity I'd have t...

Re: 6K6GT Tube
Ron, I was considering using the Russian 6N6C -- ~6V6GT tube equivalent in my builds. Has anyone tried a 6V6GT in one of the Fender or equivalent units? rj I have used the Russian Reflektor 6P6S (or 6П6С) as a direct sub for 6V6GT. They are both tetrodes with exactly the same operating ...

I fixed it for ya!David Root wrote:Much bigger market I would think for radials (computers), therefore lower unit costs. Also since axials tend to be used in audio, they may be price jacked up more for that market.
