Re: 2nd Build - 5 years later - Allen Accomplice Jr

Cab arrived - looks great and sounds great. I'm pretty happy with my 2nd build.

Re: 2nd Build - 5 years later - Allen Accomplice Jr

Combo cab is shipping today! Should be here Tuesday. :D It's coming with a WGS G12C ceramic and I recently acquired a G12A alnico that I have mounted in a tweed 1X12 extension cab. One of these will end up with this combo - one will end up with the tweed. Excited to put the chassis in a proper cabin...

Re: Keith Urban

Well I think Keith Urban is a hell of a player. Went to a concert recently. Besides being a great showman, he tore up the guitar and his tone was excellent.

No bad vibes from me on that guy!

Re: 2nd Build - 5 years later - Allen Accomplice Jr

Ordered a set of Winged -C- 6L6s and that helped a lot. I have also been playing with the amp for a week. The treble and middle settings need to be run a little lower than I am used to. It makes the harshness go away. I was able to put the 12ax7 back in the PI slot and it sounded good too. I ordered...

Re: SPDT Impedance Switch for 33W amp

Found enough room for the other impedance switch. I like it better since that's what it's designed to do. But the Carling switch would have worked, as well.

Happy camper - now I can switch between 8 and 4 ohms with 6L6s or 16 and 8 ohms with 6V6s.

Cool ... I think it will fit ... if 3 amps @ 125V will work ... I can easily check the signal path when it arrives.

Re: SPDT Impedance Switch for 33W amp

I don't have the switch yet ... but it is coming in with some tubes today. I'm really asking about the 3 amps. Is it beefy enough for a small amp output?

Re: SPDT Impedance Switch for 33W amp

That switch only has three lugs. I think what you want is a DPST, one that is On-On On my D'Lite I used a DPDT (6 lug) switch but on this amp, I only need to choose between Green 8-ohm and Yellow 4-ohm taps ----> out to speaker jack tip. So ON-ON with 3 lugs would work I think. Right now Green is c...

SPDT Impedance Switch for 33W amp

Can I use this Carling SPDT switch (3amp 125v) to select between two 4-ohm and 8-ohm taps on a 33w amp (my Allen Accomplice build)? Size-wise I think it would fit better than alternatives. It's not a really powerful amp ... about a Vibrolux with 6L6s at 33w. http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-H4...

What's the PT slot?
Sorry PI - phase inverter - comes with all 12ax7

I still find the IPAD difficult to type on and make mistakes.

Re: 2nd Build - 5 years later - Allen Accomplice Jr

Well a good build I think. I did find one error yesterday. There are two star grounds - one for preamp - one for power amp. I had placed one of the power amp grounds in the preamp. I sampled some of the voltages and sent them to David - it appears to be built correctly. David says with 6L6s it is re...

Re: Bias 6L6s in my Accomplice build?

What kind of speaker do you have in this thing? If it is not one that you are familiar with that could be a contributor. I've tried it through: * scumback M75 8 ohm * celestion G1265 8 ohm * 16 ohm and 4 ohm combinations of the above two * EVM12L 8 ohm * Eminence 10516 2x10 at 8 ohms I'm getting an...

Re: Bias 6L6s in my Accomplice build?

I just had another idea. I have a pair of Tung-Sol 5881 reissues that I ran for a long time at 445v in my Brown Note. They are suppose to be able to take up to 500v according to some but I only have experience with 445v. They should be able to take 420v pretty easy and at 23v plate dissipation, I c...

Re: Bias 6L6s in my Accomplice build?

Is "pin 3 to ground" voltage or current? I recall you said you have bias test ponts built into the amp- are there 1 ohm resistors to ground from those jacks? If so you are measuring cathode current, which includes screen current. Screen current doesn't count against plate dissipation. voltage Yes t...

Pin 3 to ground - both sockets are the same.
