Re: Matchless Phoenix arrived - how close is it to the Rockster?

schematic? It is supposedly a DC-30 preamp combined with a Chieftain Power-Amp (this has been posted on a few amp forums by posters with good reputation). I've never found a schematic of the Phoenix. Maybe i will open it up and confirm this at some point. But i do assume that is pretty much what it...

Re: The Legend has passed

Getting very sad, reminds me of this message I got:

"Thanks mate, we'll do! Dumble thanks you as well (I told him that you have been a big help!)"

Re: Type 3 MV on a paraphrase amp

schematic?

I used a dual ganged post pi mv in a Supro-ish circuit with great results.
The amp is now owned by a dutch guitarhero.

Have fun!

Low efficiency Celestion Alnico Blue type speaker

Hi all I really like using (current) Celestion Alnico Blue speakers in modified 5E3 amps but they're so loud :) Right now looking for current speakers that have about the same sound, feel and power-rating (higher no porblem) but about 97 dB @ 1W @ 1m or less. Even ceramics are welcome ;) Thanks in a...

Re: Can you jumper the inputs on a Tweedle-Dee?

the problems are probably due to layout-problems, move the MV further away from inputs/preamp

Re: Can you jumper the inputs on a Tweedle-Dee?

There's less interaction compared to a stock 5E3.

Jumpering ain't no problem (no phase issues for example) but you'll get a lower input-impedance and the amount of bass is already enough.

Just give it a try and see if you like it!

Re: Fender Tweed Twin Reissue JB Edition

Many, many Fenders did use very small transformers, mostly the PTs.
See the PT as internal resistance between mains and a thing that amplfiies/creates sound and it kinda makes sense.

Maybe we've to check what tube-rectifier mr K. Rochards is using in his 5F8As on stage?
