Re: resistor near the vol pot
They are from 820R to 470k. They reduce blocking distortion and acts like low pass filter (they roll off the higher frequencies) due to the miller effect of the next triode.

Re: a trainwreck preamp inside a plexi spec
Rockstah, great sample!! I've posted an idea about trainwrecking a 1959 on MetroAmp and a single tone pot version here about last may, but never had time to try them because I'm on retroengineering a SRV SLO. glad to see you've got the same idea and you have realized it! What about power supply? Wha...

Hi rockstah, 030K0 in philips caps stand for a kind of E-caps, not the value.

Re: trainwreck highpass filter
Changing from 150k to 33k change the gain of the 2nd stage, also if you scale up the capacitor to say 1n to 4n7. This is due to the fact that the triode can't load 33k as it should do with 1M load, and so it changes the way it sounds. Have you tried some different caps in parallel on this coupling s...

Has anyone tried the Pantone system on some engines?

Re: Marshall tone stack w/o cathode follower?
Take care about the fact that a marshall EQ w/o a CF reacts differently. You have less mids and highs (or more mid-lows if you prefer). You can see this changing Zsrc to 68k on Duncan simulator. It sound more like an Engl. It should be better to raise the slope and maybe lower the treble cap (33k ki...

Re: Choice of small value caps
Ceramic are not linear, and this could be used to "marshallize" the sound, specially if you go near the declared voltage. For a more linear sound I use Wima caps. SM usually for cleans (or smooth leads) and only if the signal is passing throught, not for grounding or anode bypass.

Re: Why 100 Watts?
I was talking about same cab configuration, same preamp, only supply and trafos changed. I think also other people mean the same. I don't need to crank a 100w to hear my guitar onstage. My 2channel 11W SE head is enought, and cuts the mix very well, but the 100w is wider and fuller, and sometimes I ...

Hi Rut,
V1B lacks of cathode biasing resistor.
The point in which you put reverb is a classical fender, it should work!

Re: Why 100 Watts?
IMHO a big difference is done by power supply and trafo out. The first makes the amp more dynamic at low volume setting, the latter is well explained by AndyLeBlanc (also more iron than 50w OT).

Re: Hi-Gain Circuit - Affect of a lower value gain pot
The cap to ground on gain pots is a way to have multiple positive effects: at lower gain settings it has quite no influence on the sound, on middle to higher settings it stops squealing highs like a grid stopper, but without the hard-sound of stoppers at low gain settings. PS freq rolls-off on halfw...

Re: Ceriatone Express Chassis Dimensions?
Only 8" deep? I've 50w OT and PT that are 102x115mm and 82x100mm.
82 + 115 = 197mm = 7"3/4. Do you think they fit the chassis?
