JJ's ECC803 reliability?

Bought some of their long plate (not gold pin) 12AX7's to try out and have been having some problems w/ noise, hum, microphonics and just plain pre-mature failure. Anyone else having problems or did I get a Friday batch?

Re: Anyone here have access to a Vox TB18 schematic?

This doesn't look like the typical Bruno amp: http://www.voxshowroom.com/uk/amp/tb18c1_hood.html

Some years ago I saw gut photos of Vox's first gen prototype AC-30HW by Bruno, man what a mess that was...

Schematic? You have some mixing resistors if using multi channel volumes?

Very nice. Looks to be a harder build than a flat out clone, but benefit of compact size. Is the 100mA choke holding up ok?

Re: AC15 build started

Nice. Lots of components per real estate there! I'd expect to see a lot of jumper wires underneath, but this layout is cleverly thought out. Kudos to Sluckey or whomever designed the layout. Hopefully it won't oscillate when you crank the treble... 8)

Re: Copper Panel AC30 Trem/Vib Issue

The 12AU7 is the mixer, did you happen to replace the 12AX7 oscillator tube, which is next to it (going toward the OT/speaker connection side of chassis)??

Re: AC30 MM Woden OT install

It's my understanding that the Woden is the biggest seller for MM in AC30 OTs. This isn't my amp, so I'll only be able to hear it for a few minutes. Probably because Wodens were used more in AC-30s during the classic period '62 - '65. Oddly enough, I wouldn't doubt that MM's Radio Spares surplus cl...

Re: AC30 MM Woden OT install

Have no idea why MM did that. Maybe too lazy to connect internal leads? It's not true to the original Woden OTs used in the AC-30s. I've installed many of those MM Woden clones and always thought it was a PITA. Their Haddon clones do not have those, they're normal. Since you used both Woden and Had...

Prefer the Chemtronics over the Kester. Lasts 2x longer, tip keeps it's shape better/longer.

Re: Vox AC15C1 Choke Mod

You might want to go with an AC-30 choke, they're rated close to 500 DCR at 100mA. You could also try and increase R72/73. Wouldn't be a bad idea to increase screen R's to at least 470R to 1kR.
