Re: Clapton's Dumble On the Bandstand
That's an HRM that I believe was on consignment from a guy in Virginia. I'm pretty sure that was one of six amps that went to a dealer in Chicago in '99 or early '00.

Re: OD Deluxe dealio....
David, no, I wish I would have had an original layout to work from, it would probably have saved me about 6 weeks :D 10thtx, let me look at my scribbles tonight. what you've got there actually looks fairly close but a lot of the values are different. Let me check on where everything was hooked in to...

Re: OD Deluxe dealio....
there's not much AB763 in there. the preamp is high plate non HRM, no boost, the phase inverter is the same with the exception of a .01 PI input cap and the balancing resistors. I ended up liking the one tube reverb best after trying a couple different things with two tubes. I ended up wiring the ro...

OD Deluxe dealio....
I've been working on this for the past couple months and finally got it where I wanted it. Rebuilt the tremolo at least 7 or 8 times and ended up with a bias modulated circuit close to a tweed lux. I'm totally stoked with the sound of this thing now. So much so I may build one into a twin chassis fo...

Re: Chassis Mounting Methods
You can also do something similar to Fender with 4" screws and lock nuts going thru the bottom of the chassis.

Re: New HRM build
Stucco, thanks for posting that. The tone on this video is the end product of my 5 years studying Dumble style amps. Verbrator and Boss delay in effects loop NOR input Volume 6 T, M, B (Both OD and PAB engaged for whole clip except short clean section in middle) Mid off JAZZ (forgot this is set to ...

Re: Manzamp!
Especially with a JJ rectifier, I've found them to drop voltage more like an 5Y3 or something.talbany wrote:..500v sounds a bit high for a Bassman power But hey if it sounds good..Tony

Re: Manzamp!
Thanks Mark, I do recall reading that description now. Re the power supply, it looks like there is a lot more reservoir capacitance, but otherwise the precision power supply isn't much different, electrically speaking. Dumble-style presence is Fender presence. I'll be most interested to see the oth...

Re: Manzamp!
the power supply is a pretty huge difference from the original narrow panel bassman setup.

Re: Cable for Footswitch: NOW FIXED, added PICS
we must be talking about something different or something changed. The ones I got several years ago had 5 wires and were as robust as anything else out there, both 2 button and 3 button pedals.

Re: Cable for Footswitch: NOW FIXED, added PICS
The 3 switch footswitches at CE Distribution(Antique Electronics) have the cords and 5 pin plugs that fit those jacks. The boxes are resonably priced as well. 5 pins and the switches and LEDs in side are easy to rewire.

Looking where the two white wires go I'd guess it's some sort of NFB switch.

Changing your PI caps would help but may not do all you need. do you have a schem of what you've got so we're all looking at the same thing?

Re: New EL34 rocket...
The power tranny is a TW style that is beefed up for extra current handling. The OT is based on an article I read by Dave Funk years ago. I'm not a transformer guy so I'm not going to parrot this stuff but it's a twin style frame built to handle a 100% duty cycle with balanced windings. The rig is d...
