Re: Jim Weider Bassman ODS.

That is a Kane rebuild. Jim is never done trying new things and Mitch has helped him as have another guy or two. It’s been back to me, Kane once as well when things got a little off kilter. All the changes were the same values with different companies or values.

Re: Dumbleator Layout

Thank you for that, so basically do it just the way it's drawn. One heater wire to pin 5, the other to pin 4, connect them with a wire to pin 9 and then on to ground? do I have that right? thanks again

Re: Dumbleator Layout

[quote="martin manning" post_id=413673 time=1592844229 user_id=4984] Some recent discussion on the send buffer and cable loss (https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=32162) got me looking into the frequency response. It's true that the buffer is not very well equipped to handle long cables ...

Re: 70's circuit updated late '80's

Is there a schematic of ODSR #60 floating around? Those clips really sound great.

Re: 70's circuit updated late '80's

The amp is an original late ‘70’s model that was updated by Dumble in the mid/late ‘80’s. I’m curious if anyone has seen the cathode and plate circuits setup as explained, basically backwards.

70's circuit updated late '80's

As anyone seen anything like this. The first and second preamp tubes have plate values on #1 of 180K with a 1k cathode, 130k with a 2k2 both caps 25uf25v. Tube 2 is 220k with a 2k2 cathode, 100k with a 1.8k, both caps 5uf/25v. So, with this in place the voltage on the first half of each tube is runn...

Re: EL84L amp fixed bias.....

I haven't written this up. The main amp is pretty much a low plate skyline circuit with a 250k OD trim on the board and a 250K drive pot on the front. There's a loop a lator built into it with the power coming of the screen cap. The bias circuit is similar to the old 50 watt plexi model. Tap on one ...

EL84L amp fixed bias.....

Long time gone and this one is sorta off the reservation. El84L power section with fixed bias. A long time friend approached me with this idea a while ago and I wasn't nuts about the idea but finally came along. Glad I did. Super cool amp, crazy smooth and you get such contact and feel from the amp ...
