This is great info and is helping me understand this element. Can you possibly go a bit further and point out the specific
points of reference on this data sheet? I see 14w Max diss. for the JJ's
load line is tangent to the 100% Pa max curve ? Help me see that.

Re: Help me Rocket Men
Perhaps this will help. I built the first round Rocket group build from RJ and then went on to add Reverb, Mid-pot, VVR and PPIMV. This is by far my favorite amp I have built and it sounds amazing. Here are the codes for the Transformers from RJ. Maybe you can get the manufacturer to provide the sam...

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Ok so back to this amp. Just to be clear this schematic is not exactly what I have. The amp has two inputs with 6AU6-A's as the pre-amp stages. I have converted one of the preamp stages (the 6AU6) to triode operation. The screen is to the anode with a 100R, suppressor G to the cathode, and I have a ...

Re: Figured some of yall might enjoy this
1972 at Max's, was invited to the show. Later backstage they asked what I thought. Like an idiot I complained that it was all too loud and could they dial it back. Skunk gave me a look like he could "kill me". But it was exciting and great.... just very very loud.

Cbass, love SD. More of my checkered past..... I went to junior high with Walter, he was a child prodigy. He came to school one week and could play all of the Beatle songs we were all listening to. Cut to my college days and a buddy of mine was throwing a dance party and Walter showed up with the so...

I am sure you have seen Frank Fords work over the years. Talk about jig making.

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Hmmm, just tried the MV there and not sure I love it. Seem to be getting blocking distortion... from the preamp section as I try to dial in a nice breakup. This being a PA system, this could be a futile effort.
Thanks Steve for your input.

PS yes your drawing was very helpful

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Does the 470k just before the PI look like a reasonable spot? Might you have any references from one of your builds for that style MV?
Thanks A

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Ian, when you say "from the book" I am looking at Valve Wizard, is it the floating paraphase you are referencing? No. It's just a plain and simple paraphase inverter, exactly like the one at the top of this Wizard page... http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/paraphase.html Yup .. I guess I do not understan...

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Sluckey... from a thread over on EL34.... "You have a paraphase inverter. It's not gonna like any of the post PI MVs. About all you can do is put a standard volume pot in front of the PI." On this amp I am working on, would an addition of a volume (Master) pot right in front of the PI allow for brea...

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Hello -- Actually that PI circuit is classic "from the book" paraphase dual triode, just strangely rendered and therefore at first glance looks to be an oddly misused pentode. Best .. Ian Ian, when you say "from the book" I am looking at Valve Wizard, is it the floating paraphase you are referencing?

Can a paraphase inverter take the PPIMV setup?
