Silverface Champ - new sounds
So this is a bit of an experiment, I am sure it's been done somewhere. It's a 70's Silverface Champ. I simply want to up the output a bit and give myself some tonal options and it needs to be reversible. 1. New WHS 8" w/ Ceramic magnet 2. Swap out the 100k plate R's for 220k 3. Up the 12ax7 CR to 3....

Re: Effect Pedal building
Nice project, cool kid. I'll bet he is gonna soak up a lot of know how from you. The Kingsley stuff is great sounding. I'll be looking to see if anyone attempts a knock-off, jump on the band wagon. He uses a converter to get from 12v to 120vac to run the tubes and more typical voltages of from 150dc...

Re: Next up, grill cover
Mellotone DF6000 - So this stuff is close to the Fender original? I need to re-cover my old Tremolux 64' which is in poor shape.
Some of the grill stuff is plastic and degrades, is this DF6000 an actual material weave?
Ange

Re: Effect Pedal building
Thanks Martin, I know you have built a number of pedals with PNP. Did you settle on a 'magic' hFE for the Q1 & Q2? I have built the Fuller model (other as well), it's nice to have the contour and bias knob in addition to the vol and fuzz. It's that rolled of vol on guitar that killer. Also wondering...

Re: My Champ has a sound problem
Mikante, I just want to add and encourage you to try some speaker options. I am running my silver face champ into my 2x10" 4ohm Tremolux cab (1964) and wow what a difference. I had a WHS speaker 8" in there and it's ok.... but the cab with 2x10 is just another world altogether. I also have some home...

Re: Effect Pedal building
TC1 meter. Hi all, I am on a Fuzz tear and I am using the TC1 tester and it compares nicely with the RG Keen DIY tester. The TCI appears to give the hFE as well and the leakage current. Just wondering if any others have experience with this relatively cost effective device (tester)? Germanium PNP's ...

This is great info and is helping me understand this element. Can you possibly go a bit further and point out the specific
points of reference on this data sheet? I see 14w Max diss. for the JJ's
load line is tangent to the 100% Pa max curve ? Help me see that.

Re: Help me Rocket Men
Perhaps this will help. I built the first round Rocket group build from RJ and then went on to add Reverb, Mid-pot, VVR and PPIMV. This is by far my favorite amp I have built and it sounds amazing. Here are the codes for the Transformers from RJ. Maybe you can get the manufacturer to provide the sam...

Re: McGohan M20 Amp
Ok so back to this amp. Just to be clear this schematic is not exactly what I have. The amp has two inputs with 6AU6-A's as the pre-amp stages. I have converted one of the preamp stages (the 6AU6) to triode operation. The screen is to the anode with a 100R, suppressor G to the cathode, and I have a ...

Re: Figured some of yall might enjoy this
1972 at Max's, was invited to the show. Later backstage they asked what I thought. Like an idiot I complained that it was all too loud and could they dial it back. Skunk gave me a look like he could "kill me". But it was exciting and great.... just very very loud.

Cbass, love SD. More of my checkered past..... I went to junior high with Walter, he was a child prodigy. He came to school one week and could play all of the Beatle songs we were all listening to. Cut to my college days and a buddy of mine was throwing a dance party and Walter showed up with the so...
