Rebel 20

I just dropped it off at the local guitar shop so the guys there can play with it this afternoon and I will pick it up later. They were all interested in trying this amp out. I had them play my Ceriatone Express and all they could say was wow no master volume that thing is loud and interesting sound...

Nice Cab

Nice looking cab. I made sure my bright switch wires were not touch other wires or the chasis. Not sure what you got going but check the wire routing as the guys here always say lead dress. If still having problems be sure to send another thread to some of your very experienced builders on this foru...

Spearker wiring

I have always foud the 4 ohm load best for me; however, the 4x12 stereo cabs are 8/16. My super reverb is at 2 ohms and doesn't sound good using anyother load either. So it all can get confusing but when I build my own cabinets I usually choose the speaker and wiring to give me a 4 ohm load. The onl...

Bass Amp

Check out the schematic for the Fender Bronco bass amp or something like that and go from there with your build. I used to have a small Kalamazoo bass amp that wasn't much bigger if at all. Of course it has two 10 inch speakers. I would run a 15 bass speaker and the volume should increase even with ...

Blue Alnicos

I run the Dr Z open back 212 with blue Alnico which is such a good tone and find it hard to go back to other celestion types, eminence, carvins or Peavey. But having said that I am looking at the Weber alnico speakers as a viable cheaper source as I want the 50 watt rating of the Celestion Golds but...

Power up

Tim did you use one of Allyn's chasis? I have his liverpool chasis and notice this same problem a few days ago. Since I was uing the BOM I ordered the IEC socket and cord not even thinking that Allyn's chasis has the round strain relief hole.

Tubes

Roe What cab did you use for your amp? When I put the chassis in my new cab that really took the hiss and squeal away. I want to experiment with different tubes but waiting for my sister-in-law to bring me a box full of old tubes she saved for me. Last time she ran across a whole bunch of tubes I wa...

Nice tone

The Rebel 20 has such a nice tone for my style of lead work that I am so impressed with it. Sure takes a load of pressure off me trying figure out my set-up for the Halloween gig coming up. I can't wait to play the Dr Z and Rebel together without any effects. Oh I forget I have to have my tremolo pe...

Egnater Rebel 20

I know this is a tube amp building forum; however, I can't help it and just had to tell you about this little amp. First it has a small foot print but is big in volume. I found that I like the mix knob in the middle with both the 6v6 and el84 at the same time with the gain knob at 2 o'clock this amp...

Amp project

Carlin, I think in your original post you said you have some chassis laying around. My first project was an old phonograph tube amp with one 6v6 and added new pots, 1/4 inch jacks and had fun with it. The next phono amp I found used two 6v6 so again another great amp to play with. The trouble with t...

Route 66

I would go over to the DR Z forum, link at his amp site, and they have a technical discussion there and you can ask away.

Re: noob questions for modifying my randall amp

I took a longer look at your schematic and see that the capacitors are higher value so the sound would be in the lower bass level and I am not sure if the tone your getting is to deep and you want to get more treble. If yes the resistors you identified can be lowered and the caps lowered, to what I ...
