Re: 66 Rocker - AKA 66 Rocket ...Eventually the 66 Rockster
Revive this old thread. I had a bunch of flashes and sparks coming from the back of an old octal rocket (rockster) yesterday. Blew the fuse, replaced the fuse and tried again and saw the fireworks coming from the KT66s. Didn't have any extra KT66s laying around, so I popped in a pair in Svetlana EL3...

Re: Newbie Rocket PT Question
Hey turbo, I hope it turns out ok for you with that mod. Should just rip out that Heyboer and replace it with a MM, or at least a Pacific Tranny from Allyn here on the forum. I believe he's got them in stock right now. Let me know and I can get you a MM for a much discounted price.

Re: In Phase vs Out of Phase
I doubt it makes much difference in the grand scheme of things, or in and of itself. Having said that, I believe that a lot of little things like this may have some effect on the over all outcome of the amp. Push pull power tubes tend to cancel hum just because of the way they operate but the preamp...

Re: Mercury Magnetic Express transfo
Of course. Use them all the time. I've purchased so many, that now I get them for about 1/2 of what's listed. Still spendy, but worth it for sure.DaveWell wrote:Someone have try The Mercury Magnetic ?

Re: rockster tonestack question
Oh, no worries Tony. I just thought if johndandry added a mid pot, then don't ground the bass pot. RJ's discrepancy is a simple mistake. I've built many variants that are similar to the Rockster. All of which have a mid control. Just adds a bit more variety to the Rocket tone. And none of them have ...

Re: rockster tonestack question
Yeah those two files are inconsistant with each other. Take a look at the Express schematic in the files section, and how the pots are wired. Wire up the tonestack like that. Perhaps there other tonestacks I know not of--and perhaps RJ is doing something this hookup that's really cool; but the one y...

Re: rockster tonestack question
does the Rockster have a mid control? If so, then the bass pot is not grounded. Its 3rd tab is connected to the wiper of the mid pot. The mid pot is then grounded. Just a guess.

Totally! I've been a huge Jacket fan. I bought a Tobias Signature 5 string back in the 80's just so I could be like Jimmy. Still have that bass. Certainly can't play like him though.stelligan wrote:Jimmy Haslip! MF'er........

I take it you don't want to have to practice, just use your delay and you sound like you're a monster, right? My advice is most needed by someone like you. Why don't you post your delay settings and then advise young beginners like yourself that this is the bomb - you don't have to practice - you d...

Re: What EL84's do you like?
Thanks for the responses. With regards to the Russian Saratovs, aren't these still in production as the Mullard reissue EL84M? If so, has anyone compared these to the older production? In my 50 years of playing guitar I have noticed that most guitar players would rather talk about all this kind of ...

Re: Old Organ parts
Hey Firestorm, I really don't have a goal other than trying to score some tubes. The organ was filled primarily with RCA 12AU7s. Looks to be at least 50 years old.Firestorm wrote:How old? What model? What's your goal? Lot of work no matter what. Like old radios; it's got to be a labor of love.

Old Organ parts
Pulled apart this old Hammond. Looks like a lot of work to me. :) [IMG:1024:577]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb154/rawnster/organ/12-0DC33FAF-2654655-1280-100.jpg[/img] [IMG:1024:577]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb154/rawnster/organ/IMAG0119.jpg[/img] [IMG:1024:577]http://i209.photobucke...
